WWE Monday Night Raw rolls on. We’re promised the return of a superstar that’s been on the shelf for quite a while in Jinder Mahal. Nia Jax backstage is being interviewed about her actions earlier tonight and repeatedly states that nobody can do anything about it. Asuka can’t do anything about it, Shayna Baszler can’t do anything about it, ect.
Then the Viking Raiders have a promo in front of thick red lights and a fog machine where they go into their history with the Street Profits. They note that the Profits became NXT Tag Champions only after the Viking Raiders relinquished them. The Street Profits became Raw Tag Team Champions only after the Viking Raiders went down with an injury. And everytime the Street Profits have ever faced off with them, they lost. Simple but pretty effective promo there. Continue to appreciate how many callbacks Raw has had of late. They were foreshadowing this feud a couple of weeks ago, seemed like they immediately dropped it with no mention of this direction last week, but no we’re going with this direction after all.
Now, out comes Akira Tozawa to face off with the returning Jinder Mahal, making his way from injury.
Akira Tozawa vs. Jinder Mahal
Jinder quickly knocks Akira out of the ring, rams him into the barrier, to the LED Board and then a toss into the guardrail! I think Jinder is slightly smaller than the last time we saw him. Still very muscular but a little less frighteningly veiny. Rolls Tozawa back into the ring, big boot flips him onto his face. Jinder hoists him onto his shoulders, drops him with an exaggerated Samoan Drop. Starts pounding his chest, pulling him up, plants him with the Khallas and that is that.
Winner: Jinder Mahal
It’s sorta funny, immediately before this segment I was talking to some friends of mine about Jinder potentially coming back and challenging Drew McIntyre, being that they’re former tag partners and Jinder’s a former champion. In fact the two of them actually have about the same story. They were cut together, they both super jacked in their off-time only to come back and become world champions. In theory it’s a compelling story to be told, except… yannow. It’s Jinder. But I could easily see them going for it.
