Major League Wrestling: MLW Fusion #105

We’re at MLW Fusion #105! This episode pits a couple of Major League Wrestling stars against Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide’s best. MLW tends to have good relationships with lucha promotions so let’s see what they have on tap for us.

MLW Fusion #105: MLW/AAA Super Series
Tijuana Barrio Match: Mance Warner & Savio Vega vs. Pagano & Mortiz
MLW National Openweight Title: Alexander Hammerstone [c] vs. Laredo Kid

I like how Major League Wrestling made sure to promote AAA as the top lucha libre promotion in the world. The show opens with the Mexican national anthem followed by a run down of the card for this episode. Alexander Hammerstone is out there to provide guest commentary for the first bout.

We go backstage with interviewer and YouTuber Alicia Atout. Yes, I’ve been referring to her as “backstage interviewer” since we’ve started covering Major League Wrestling. She has chemistry with Ol‘ Mancer. She asks about the Dynasty or an upcoming match and he takes everyone watching on a trip.

Major League Wrestling: MLW Fusion #105

This time, it’s about how Dynasty members Hammerstone and Holliday are sick freaks because they went to a donkey show in Mexico. He says they spent all their money on the show. Sick. Savio Vega shows up and hypes tonight’s bout.

Tijuana Barrio Match: Mance Warner & Savio Vega vs. Pagano & Mortiz

A Tijuana Barrio Match is a local street fight. There’s even a car hood out there. We know Savio and Mance, Pagano is a young luchador who really rocks it in extreme matches and deathmatches. Mortiz is also good at these matches.

We get a skewer spot as Savio Vega jabs them into Pagano’s head! The momentum shifts in AAA’s favor after Mortiz trips Savio and Ol‘ Mancer. Mortiz took some unprotected chairshots from Mancer. Oof. Pagano is also laid out with a chairshot from Mance after Savio powerbombs Mortiz onto that car hood.

Mortiz sets a table on fire and it looks…out of control. He aims to put Mance through it with probably a Spanish Fly but gets chokeslammed through it! Pagano and Ol’ Mancer go at it and put each other through doors in the corner.

Major League Wrestling: MLW Fusion #105

Hammerstone originally left for his pharmacy order but returns to lay out Mance Warner with a boot. This allows Mortiz to put Mance through the table with a splash. After some chair awkwardness, Pagano put Savio away with a flipping neckbreaker. The crowd dug the match and showered the ring in money afterward.

King Mo has been fined $10,000 for his attack on Killer Kross and given a one-month suspension. Tom Lawlor isn’t pleased that MLW would treat the King of Knockouts like this but has other news. He and Dominic Garrini will be invading the tag team division and aims to take the belts off of the Von Erichs.

On “Lifestyles of the Rich and Dynastic,” Dynasty partied a little too hard. Turns out they went to the donkey show as Mance said. Filthy. Holliday wants to pull out of his match but Hammerstone doesn’t believe in pulling out and the two set off to sober up.

Major League Wrestling: MLW Fusion #105

Injustice has also been suspended and given a $10,000 fine for attacking Pillman. They said they’re not paying ten stacks. Myron Reed said that if he could put Brian Pillman Jr out again. The Rogue Prince has been trying to get cleared by Major League Wrestling.

Next episode, Team Filthy will be hosting a press conference about their merger with American Top Team. A random camera guy catches Davey Boy Smith Jr as he’s leaving MLW owner Court Bauer’s office.

He gives an update on Pillman who has had his mouth wired shut. When asked about meeting and if it was for a title shot, he told the cameraman to pan down to his gold shoes and said that he’s after Jacob Fatu’s MLW World Heavyweight title.

Injustice aren’t supposed to be in an MLW arena. Here they are, cutting Konnan off. They say they’re the best trio and want a shot at the AAA World Trios belts. Konnan books the match against champions Jinetes del Aire: Myzteziz Jr, Octagon Jr, and Hijo del Vikingo.

Major League Wrestling: MLW Fusion #105

Psycho Clown responds to L.A Park’s challenge and said he will be coming for his fat head. The disrespect for The Mercenary of Wrestling. Alicia gets to talk with Alexander Hammerstone who isn’t high on Laredo Kid at all. He says he’s keeping the National Openweight title.

MLW National Openweight Title: Alexander Hammerstone [c] vs. Laredo Kid

You know Hammerstone’s gameplay by now. He bulldozes his opponents but when he can’t fully bulldoze them, he’ll wrestle them. This match was a situation where he had to wrestle as Laredo Kid was relying heavily on speed and split-second counters. Hammerstone was worn down quickly trying to keep pace with Kid but he was tired out to the point where Laredo Kid could seal the win.

When the match was most balanced, Hammerstone accidentally knocks out the ref with a clothesline. Normally, this would be perfect for a dastardly ne’er-do-well like Alexander Hammerstone but Laredo Kid managed to take advantage. A Spanish Fly—yes, Laredo Kid Spanish Fly’d Hammerstone—might have put the champion away but the ref is out on the outside!

Major League Wrestling: MLW Fusion #105

After Kid brings the ref back in, Hammerstone pops his SPECIAL and hits Laredo Kid with a German Suplex, a powerbomb, and finishes him with the Nightmare Pendulum. The score is tied at 1-1 between Major League Wrestling and AAA.

Alexander Hammerstone def. Laredo Kid via Nightmare Pendulum (PIN) ~ successful 9th defense

Match of the Show: Mance Warner & Savio Vega vs. Pagano & Mortiz

The MLW National Openweight Title main event was the cleaner of the two matches. There was no awkwardness outside of Hammerstone hopping up on the rail after taking Laredo Kid’s dive. The opener was sloppy at times and I don’t know what was going on with the chair between Savio and Pagano towards the end.

However, the crowd was more into this match and Hammerstone vs. Laredo Kid didn’t result in the crowd throwing money in the ring.

Here’s the card for next week’s episode.

    MLW Fusion #106
Team Filthy vs. Puma King & Xtreme Tigre
    Douglas James vs. Averno
