Some call him The Spanish God, some call him one of the fastest rising stars in All Elite Wrestling. The youngest star of The Inner Circle, Sammy Guevara has been taken under the learning tree of Chris Jericho, and has been finding some serious success within AEW. He has yet to win any championships or big matches, but has shown serious potential in every showing. Will that potential be realized if he is able to become the inaugral TNT Champion?
A Revolution Rematch For Sammy Guevara
In the first round of action, he will be facing Darby Allin. This is a man he has a history with, both inside and out of AEW. In AEW, Sammy had put Darby on the shelf when he attempted to crush the throat of Allin with a skateboard. This lead into a crazy match for AEW at Revolution, which saw both men go all out from the start. From the 630 Senton through a table, to more insane stunts, they would have stolen the show if not for a 6 star classic between The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega & Hangman Page. That match showed how far they are willing to go, and this time there is gold on the line.
Bringing Gold To The Inner Circle
A notable aspect of this tournament is that Sammy is the sole member of The Inner Circle in this tournament. Chris Jericho & Jake Hager are busy with AEW Champion Jon Moxley. Jake Hager will try and bring the AEW Championship back on April 15th, but Sammy can also bring the TNT Championship into the trophy case of the faction. Having some championships in their possesion would help in the coming Blood & Guts battle with The Elite, as that would give even more confidence.
New Tricks Up His Sleeve
During a recent match on AEW Dark, Sammy Guevara would win using a maneuver NXT fans will recognize as Dominic Dijakovics ‘Feast Your Eyes’. This Burning Hammer/Go To Sleep combo is a deadly move, and showcases the underrated strength that Sammy Guevara brings. This could be a dangerous tool in the tournament, as if he can hoist Matt Sells up for the move, he can likely hit anyone not named Lance Archer with some power moves in combo with his agility.
