It’s Tuesday Night and that means another episode of AEW Dark has been uploaded this evening. We begin with a long shot of the logo, lot less pomp and circumstance than usual as Excalibur gives us a quiet rundown of a few of the names who will be on tonight. We’ve got another extra large episode of Dark this evening, beginning with Dani Jordyn who is coming out for her third match in AEW. Evidently her book is called the Burn Book and it seems she puts down the names of her enemies in it. She’s got quite the draw in the newly established No. 1 Contender to the AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida.
Dani Jordyn vs. Hikaru Shida
Lock-up. Shove each other away. Lock-up again, Hikaru with a side headlock. Jordyn shoves her away, Shida tries for a shoulder block but it’s no sold. Jordyn responds but can’t budge Shida either! So they both hit the ropes, simultaneous shoulder block, Shida bounces off and hits the ropes for another one that gets Jordyn down! Rolls over her, but Dani stops her momentum with an arm drag. Charges, Shida with a boot up. Pendulum Backbreaker! Shida pulls Dani out, laying her out on the apron, charges for a big running knee to the face! Shida turns to the camera with a smile and tells us to stay home and stay safe. That’s sweet.
Shida tries to get back into the ring but Jordyn blocks, kick ties her up in the ropes, Jordyn with a stylish rope-hung DDT for a nearfall! Flips into a cranking armbar with a bridge, looking snug! Shida rolls to her back but can’t break the hold. Fights her way up, Dani pelting her with forearms. Shida responds with shots of her own and clobbers her into the ropes. Whip gets blocked though, kick to the shin, Shida ducks a heel kick and whips her to the corner, charging high knee lands flush! Shida goes up top, missile dropkick sends her flying! Cover for a nearfall.
Hikaru still smiling in spite of this. Hooks her for a suplex, Dani escapes behind her, some standing switches, Jordyn trying for a German but Shida escapes, hits an enziguri… Jordyn staggers but still hits the German Suplex! Shida gets up first though and nails her with a running knee to the back of the head! Cover for a close nearfall! Starting to wonder if Jordyn’s also gotten signed or atleast is on the radar, she’s having a good showing here. Jordyn with a smack to the face, hits the ropes but gets caught with a Rising Knee, and then there’s the Falcon Arrow and no one kicks out of the Falcon Arrow!
Winner: Hikaru Shida
I’m glad she won with the Falcon Arrow again when Excalibur got the chance to call it. Shida is seen helping Jordyn to her feet as we fade to the next match.
