History repeats, but will it tonight? The second helping of Monday Night Raw’s Championship Monday matches offers a potentially awesome match and feud between the Iiconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) and Bayley and Sasha Banks. This has the potential to be one of the better tag team feuds we’ve seen in a while simply due to their previous matches.
Bayley has beaten everyone on the Smackdown brand to keep the Smackdown Women’s Championship, putting her in an elite class with Becky Lynch. Also like Lynch, she has now entered into the tag team division while, theoretically, other opponents and storylines are developed to challenge her. Fortunately for her, she managed to capture tag team gold while Lynch hadn’t and that’s set her part for the time being.
With Banks at her side, it seems like nobody can topple Bayley unless they bring an Iiconic moment.

The new Iiconics
While Bayley and Banks were the inaugural champions, the Iiconics beat them as WrestleMania 35, which established them as the new team to beat. Unfortunately, they quickly became more of pretenders as they did what they could to avoid losing the belts by purposeful disqualification or avoiding having a match.
It led to a boring and frustrating run that was remedied when they lost the titles and then disappeared from WWE television shortly afterwards.
The iconics have recently returned following a hiatus for several months, and the rumor was they were waiting while a new gimmick was developed for them. Since they’ve returned, they seem like the old Iiconics except Billie Kay doesn’t do that high-pitched shrill voice regularly, and they they’ve far more aggressive than when they were tag champions.
Storyline-wise, it’ll probably be chalked up to them being hungry after being away for so long, but the real reason could be something far simpler.
There’s a chance that Vince McMahon and WWE creative eventually threw up their hands at not coming up with something that would work, or Billie Kay and Peyton Royce stood up for their characters and convinced them they could make it work.
That could mean several things, but the most probable one is they are now allowed to be themselves. It’s often the best remedy as a wrestler knows what they’re comfortable doing instead of attempting an idea that does suit them. It removes any inhibition and allows their creativity to flourish. Whatever the reason, it’s added a cool dimension that could prove fun to watch as things continue to develop for them. Who knows, they may even win the titles back here and the powers-that-be can work on finishing turning Banks and Bayley against each other so the Boss can become Smackdown Women’s Champion. This could prove to be an interesting Monday Night Raw. Just a thought
