The OMG moments in WWE get a ton of love. It’s important to have at least one or two OMG moments during each PPV. I love the little things in matches, though.
Let’s look at some minor and reoccurring OMG moments and spots in WWE history that never fail to excite the fans and some that get looked over in matches.
John Cena’s New Move: Random OMG Moments Detected
Cena wrestles a very color-by-the-numbers style. Like Bret, he has his Five Moves of Doom that are hit in sequence before the fifth move: the Attitude Adjustment.
While his style works in big matches, there was a period during the late 2000s and early 2010s where online fans were just tired of it.
His style works perfectly because when he does break out a new move or do something new, it gets attention. The springboard Stunner?
How about the huracarana or the when he brought back the Emerald Flowsion? Cena is textbook “Save it for the PPV or big match.”
Mid-Air Counters: Got ‘em!
Nothing wows like a mid-air counter. WWE has plenty of high flyers and that means high risk for high reward. If a move connects that’s a large bonus for the wrestler.
When they miss it’s crash and burn. Now, let someone them in mid-air. They turn to ash and their profile is moved to the RIP section on WWE’s site.
A perfect example of this OMG moment is Orton catching Evan Bourne mid-Shooting Star Press with the RKO. That was vicious and smooth.
We can’t forget HBK super kicking Shelton Benjamin’s soul out of his body!
Steve Austin’s Failed Piledriver Attempt
This is a minor moment I always marked out for. His opponent would be on the outside, Austin would set them up for the piledriver and ends up eating a backdrop.
It was like his weakness or something but he always went for it. I believe he knew in his heart that he had a 5-percent success rate. Just like our next entry.
Ric Flair Going to the Top For…?
In his career, I’ve probably seen Flair score with something from the top four or five times. The man just couldn’t win up there because he was always caught.
Just like Steve Austin, it never stopped him from trying. If anything, the flying crossbody could’ve been his Murder, Death, Kill move.
When he finally hit the crossbody against HBK even Jerry Lawler had shout “It worked! It worked!”
Kofi Surviving Elimination in the Royal Rumble
This is an OMG moment everyone can get behind. Kofi Kingston has nine lives because he was hard to eliminate on the first attempt in the Royal Rumble.
Look, WWE could hold the Rumble in the middle of at ocean and Kofi would find a way to land on a dolphin and get back in the ring.
Often times, his return to the ring is the OMG moment of the match regardless of who wins the Rumble and goes on to WrestleMania.
