After years of being the best kept secret of WWE, NXT finally joined RAW & Smackdown on TV, going live, to two hours and the USA Network. They needed a huge match to kick this off, so why not four of the best women in NXT in a fatal four way to see who will face the NXT Women’s Champion? Io Shirai, Mia Yim, Candice LeRae, Bianca Belair. One of these women would earn a shot against Shayna Baszler’s incredible reign.
Total Chaos From Four Of The Best
LeRae & Shirai were having issues at this time, and they’d crash into each other to start this match. Shirai & Yim would be taken out of the ring, and LeRae would be hit with a Military Press slam in the middle of the ring. Yim came into the ring and locked a guillotine choke on Belair, who countered into a suplex, before she’d finally be dropped by Shirai.
Yim would take refuge on the middle rope, and take a 619 from Shirai in the process. Shirai would end her flurry with a picture perfect springboard dropkick on Belair getting a two count. Yim came back in, and used Shirai to kick off into a tornado DDT on Belair, this one breaking down in a hurry.
LeRae would re-enter the match, and pummel Mia Yim with a Violence Party in the corner, before she’d go to the apron and set her sights on Io Shirai, hitting a facebuster the to apron. Belair would just grab LeRae and throw her to the ramp, before being taken out by a suicide dive by Yim, and Shirai was up top for a moonsault, crashing onto her opponents from up above, as we went to a commercial break.
Coming back, a Tower of Doom has formed in the far corner of the ring, and LeRae sent everyone crashing to the mat. She’d signal out Shirai to set up the Octopus Stretch, but Yim broke this up with a big boot, only to be dropped with a spinebuster from Belair. Shirai would immediately take Belair out with a Butterfly Backbreaker, and everyone was down.
Candice LeRae Is As Tough As They Come
LeRae and Shirai would be the first back to their feet, but LeRae dropped her rival with a quick German Suplex. She’d then look to take out Belair with a Poison Rana, only to be sent right into the top turnbuckle. The KOD would be set up, but Yim saved LeRae and hit Belair with the Code Blue. Shirai saved this one from ending, but both her & Yim would be wiped out by Belair.
LeRae would be hit with the KOD, but Yim prevented this from getting the pinfall and took Belair out with Protect Ya neck, before being sent to the outside with a dropkick from Shirai. This left LeRae & Shirai in the ring, with LeRae in position for the Bullet Train knees from Shirai, which nailed flush, and the moonsault would be set up.
Shirai would take a bit too long up top, and be shoved off by Yim, crashing onto Belair in a two for one special. Yim would look to end LeRae, get tripped up, and be hit with a Poison Hurricarana into a springboard moonsault to win.
Where Are They Now?
A lot would happen for all four of these ladies in the coming year. Io Shirai would finally capture the NXT Women’s Championship, Candice LeRae would turn heel and become more vicious than ever and became #1 contender for Io Shirai, Mia Yim would join Retribution on Monday Night RAW, and Bianca BelAir would become the EST of WWE Main Event. LeRae would fail to unseat Baszler, who’d reign until NXT UK’s Rhea Ripley came overseas.
