NXT Rewind Results: Sean Maluta vs. Cameron Grimes [WWE NXT #370]

Cameron Grimes had just failed to win the NXT Breakout Tournament, losing to Jordan Myles in the finals, but he wasn’t going to stay down for very long. Faced with Sean Maluta, cousin of The Usos and participant in the Cruiserweight Classic, this wouldn’t be an easy victory for either man.

Cameron Grimes Wins In Mere Seconds

Sean Maluta would hit the ring with all the confidence in the world, knowing he hadn’t gotten many victories in NXT but tonight the world is watching. This is his first match on TV, a chance to boost his stock and find his potential. Grimes was equally ready to make an impact, but while Maluta was ready to wrestle a long match, Grimes had other plans.

The bell would ring, and Sean Maluta would rush into Cameron Grimes, who would hit the Cave In, and pin Maluta in four seconds. This was one of the fastest matches in NXT history, and did wonders for the career of Cameron Grimes.

Where Are They Now?

Sean Maluta would never find his footing in NXT, and most recently appeared in AEW where he was mauled by Lance Archer in another quick match. Cameron Grimes however, has had one of the best years of his career. Following this victory, he would go on to take men like Keith Lee, Johnny Gargano, Finn Balor & Damien Priest to their limits in amazing matches.

Grimes has become a fan favorite in NXT due to his antics, 80’s influenced promo style, and all around great matches. He would most recently compete in a Gauntlet Eliminatior match to decide who faces Finn Balor at the next NXT Takeover event, alongside Bronson Reed, KUSHIDA, Kyle O’Reilly and Timothy Thatcher.

People knew Cameron Grimes was always going to be a star in NXT, and this four second squash match did more to make that happen than any thirty minute epic could have. He will still look for that quick victory with the Cave-In whenever possible, and for good reason. It’s become one of the most dangerous finishers in all of NXT, if not WWE.
