The G1 Climax 30 Night 3 tournament match between former five-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion, G1 Climax 22 and G1 Climax 24 winner, and CHAOS member Kazuchika Okada and Bullet Club member Yujiro might have been the last chapter in a month’s long program between the two.
Yujiro helped fellow Bullet Club member Evil defeat Okada during the New Japan Cup 2020 Finals; a wrongdoing Okada was able to avenge during Sengoku Lord in Nagoya 2020.
G1 Climax 30: Okada v Yujiro
Okada was also able to defeat Yujiro, Gedo, and Jado for the KOPW (presumably King of Pro Wrestling) title qualifying match, bringing the feud up to G1 Climax 30.
Former IWGP Intercontinental and G1 Climax 29 winner Kota Ibushi was able to defeat Okada during G1 Climax Night 1, while Yujiro could not out dual current Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion, former NEVER Openweight Champion, and CHAOS member Will Ospreay on the same night.
While being the massive underdog, Yujiro gave Okada problems and didn’t seem too far out of his league when standing toe to toe against the most decorated IWGP Heavyweight Champion of all-time.
However, Okada fought hard to not begin G1 Climax 30 in a 0-2 hole. Despite Yujiro’s best efforts, he was not able to keep Okada from stringing together his offense when it mattered most.
Okada was able to gain the submission fall over Yujiro at the 12 minutes and 1-second mark with his Money Clip technique, moving his G1 Climax 30 record to 1-1.
While dropping to 0-2, Yujiro has nothing to be ashamed of after quality efforts against both Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada. Yet, he is likely frustrated with his inability to pick up the big win he needs to elevate himself in singles competition.
The victory ensures Okada remains one of the favorites and frontrunners within the A Block.
