New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) continued the World Tag League 2020 series (WTL 2020) on November 22, 2020, at the Saku City General Gymnasium in Nagano, Japan. The COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) reduced crowd of 838 made for a lively crowd in the well-lit venue.
The third series match of the event saw the CHAOS team of former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions “Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii and Toru Yano take on the Bullet Club team of WTL 2017 & WTL 2018 winner Evil and Yujiro, who were accompanied by “The Spoiler” Dick Togo.
Ishii/Yano came into the match off a victory against CHAOS unit mates and two-thirds of the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champions Hirooki Goto and Yoshi-Hashi on November 19th. Evil/Yujiro dropped the fall to six-time IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and Bullet Club unit mates Guerillas of Destiny (G.O.D.) on the same night.
Ishii/Yano needed a victory to keep pace with the top of the WTL 2020 table, and competed with urgency against the surprisingly well-oiled Bullet Club team, who were quickly able to gel due to both being good tag team wrestlers.
The Bullet Club team was able to pick up the victory at the 11 minutes and 16 seconds mark when Evil gained the fall over Toru Yano with his EVIL technique to pick up an important 2 points for his team.
Evil/Yujiro moved to (3-1) [6 points] with the win, while Ishii/Yano fell to (2-2) [4 points]. The Bullet Club team faced HenarAce (Hiroshi Tanahashi/Toa Henare) on November 24th, while Ishii/Yano faced G.O.D. on the same night.
The surprising form of Evil/Yujiro turned them into a darkhorse team to make a WTL 2020 Finals appearance after they were quickly able to go on a run; with the help of Dick Togo. Ishii/Yano remained alive but had a tough hill to climb after this series loss.
