“High Voltage” Sho is a recent NEVER Openweight Championship challenger and has achieved success in the Roppongi 3K tag team (w/Yoh) where he’s won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion four-times to go along with three Super Junior Tag League tournament trophies in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
The CHAOS member enters Best of the Super Juniors 27 (BOSJ 27) looking to represent himself and his injured tag partner Yoh, who is currently recovering after knee surgery.
Sho along with reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Bullet Club member “Bone Soldier” Taiji Ishimori, fellow CHAOS member “Sniper of the Skies” Robbie Eagles, and former three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and BOSJ 25 (2018) winner Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member “Time Bomb” Hiromu Takahashi are considered favorites to win the tournament.
While Sho has yet to establish himself as a singles wrestler, his performance earlier this year during Dominion on July 12, 2020, when he made the V2 challenge during the first reign “The Dragon” Shingo Takagi had as NEVER Openweight Champion showed he had the potential to reach great heights. Sho’s victory over Shingo Takagi during New Japan Cup 2020 on June 22, 2020 was his first step in showing that he could excel as a singles and tag wrestler.
Sho’s highlighted matches during BOSJ 27 are against Robbie Eagles (November 20th), El Desperado (November 25th), Hiromu Takahashi (December 2nd), and Taiji Ishimori (December 6th).
If Sho is unable to win BOSJ 27 or advance to the finals, a victory over Ishimori will likely set him up for an IWGP Junior Heavyweight title match in early 2021. Either way, Sho will have to approach the tournament as a great opportunity to take one step closer to unlocking his full potential.
