If you’ve been following either Cody Rhodes or Kenny Omega for a while you may remember their feud together. That took place in the NJPW and ROH now though they are both part of AEW and haven’t spent near to no time in the ring together. This seems like this has been done to have a feud down the line.
It seemed like this was hinted by Kenny Omega in a recent segment of Dynamite. With him saying that wrestlers are using their influence to have their friends and family work in AEW. This feels like a direct insult to Cody Rhodes. As he seems like the biggest wrestler in AEW doing this the most. With Brandi Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes, QT and others all being in the company and are friends or relations to Cody Rhodes.
It seems like a long time coming still
At the moment Kenny is heel and Cody is one of the biggest baby faces in AEW.If this feud is going to be for the AEW championship, a heel Cody Rhodes would work better. Although they have worked out a solid story to bring Cody back into the AEW championship. As a baby face, it could be a great story to take down the cleaner.
Could this feud be used to put Cody Rhodes back into the AEW championship contenders?
If you’ve been watching AEW for a while now, you may know that Cody Rhodes can’t wrestle for the AEW championship belt. This due to the fact that he lost against Jericho and said if he loses he wouldn’t go for the belt again. If Kenny Omega is made into one of the biggest heels in AEW and Jon Moxley is nowhere around.
Cody Rhodes could be used as a white knight to take down Kenny Omega, beating him in a no championship match and then getting pushed to go for the belt. It does feel like this would work better if Cody was heel and Kenny was face but it could still happen.
