Everyone in life has something they like to collect. Once upon a time for Kenny Omega, that was comic books. Now, he’s becoming a collector of professional wrestling titles. While many think it started when he took the AEW World Championship from Jon Moxley, it started with the AAA Mega Championship. Now, he’s a double world champion, but he will not stop there. There are many titles that he can claim, and here are three likely targets.
Kenny Omega Has An Easy Path To The Impact Wrestling World Championship
This weekend, we will see Rich Swann defend the Impact Wrestling World Champion against Chris Bey. Whoever walks away with the gold needs to keep an eye out for a V-Trigger however. With Kenny Omega being a very close ally of Don Callis, one of the men running Impact Wrestling? This one is beyond obvious.
Impact Wrestling had their best numbers in years by having Kenny Omega just showing up and talking on their show, but having him challenge for their top championship? That could take them to the next level.
Tetsuya Endo Wants To Challenge Omega
Another easy path for Kenny Omega lies in his old home in Japan. No, not New Japan Pro Wrestling, but DDT. Tetsuya Endo is the current DDT Openweight Champion, and called Kenny Omega out earlier this year. He wants to prove himself, and taking out the biggest name to come out of DDT would do exactly that.
Omega is down for this challenge, and if travel wasn’t hard due to COVID-19 right now, he might have already taken this championship for his own. AEW & DDT have worked in the past to bring in talent from the TJPW sub-brand, namely Yuka Sakazaki. Once Omega can travel to Japan, expect to see the KOD championship join his collection for a while.
Nick Aldis Is The Long Shot
Finally, there is the NWA World Championship, the Ten Pounds of Gold itself. While it’s not as important as it once was, that title has a legacy dating back to some of the biggest names in professional wrestling history. AEW has heavily featured the NWA Women’s Championship, on both Thunder Rosa & Serena Deeb. Despite this, Nick Aldis has stayed away from AEW so far.
The two companies are linked, they have been ever since All In back in 2018, and this one is a long shot, but Nick Aldis vs. Kenny Omega could be a fantastic matchup. Omega wants to collect valuable titles, and the Ten Pounds of Gold is just that.
