Episode number 113 of MLW Fusion features a double main event with Low Ki facing Richard Holliday in an Opera Cup semi-final showdown.
There’s also CONTRA Unit challenging the Von Erichs for the World Tag Team titles. Here’s the card.
MLW Fusion #113
Calvin Tankman vs. Zenshi
Violence Is Forever vs. Jason Dugan & Robert Martyr
Opera Cup Semi-Final: Low Ki vs. Richard Holliday
MLW World Tag Team Title: The Von Erichs (c) vs. CONTRA Unit (Jacob Fatu & Simon Gotch)
In This Episode
There were three important things that didn’t happen in the ring. First, we have Lio Rush saying he won’t face Myron Reed for the MLW World Middleweight title on Reed’s time but at MLW King of Colosseum 2021 in January.
Alexander Hammerstone has been cleared for action and CONTRA Unit is in his sights! Finally, Salina de la Renta has gone to Mexico to find a new bruiser, a new destroyer like L.A Park.
It’s obvious that it’s going to be Mil Muertes. Plus, Muertes is a regular on the Florida scene and was looking at getting into AEW earlier in the year.
Low-Tier
Tankman running through Zenshi was decent at best. Heavyweight Hustle is impressing me but I dig wrecking ball wrestlers anyway. Zenshi still hasn’t wowed me yet but he was actually solid here.
There was some awkwardness in the match but it wasn’t bad at all. It was just there. On a show known as squashes, this would’ve fared better.
Zenshin experiences doomsday for the spine following a Tankman Driver at 3:44.
Also, in the low-tier was the debut of Violence Is Forever as they ran through two scrubs. Well, it’s Dugan and Martyr but they’ve really been getting spanked every episode.
This match was no different and ended with a kick and brainbuster combination. Violence Is Forever picks up the win at 1:54.
I’m intrigued by how this new team could develop. Major League Wrestling needed some dedicated tag teams for a while now.
Mid-Tier
The main event World Tag Team title bout was pretty good. I’m not big on this particular CONTRA Unit combo but they managed to really put the Von Erichs’ titles in jeopardy several times.
Speaking of the Von Erichs, I dig this team. They’re just hot-blooded apex competitors and will take on any challengers. We need more of those kinds of face tag teams.
The match ends shy of eight minutes after Team Filthy attacks Marshall Von Erich on the outside. A brawl ensues and even Jordan Oliver came out to get a piece of Simon Gotch.
I’m interested in what team challenges Marshall and Ross next. As I said before, MLW needs more tag teams in its ranks. Violence Is Forever is brand new but right now, there’s only them, Injustice, Los Parks, and possibly what’s left of Dynasty.
Exotic-Tier
Low Ki taking on Richard Holliday in the Opera Cup semi-finals was a strong bout. Holliday took it to Low Ki but it wasn’t anything that the “Lone Wolf from Brooklyn” hadn’t run into before.
That said, Ki didn’t let his guard down or approach Holliday as an easy opponent at all. He had the same energy Holliday came in with and managed to put him away at 9:19 with the Warrior’s Wrath flying double stomp.
MLW Fusion #113 Verdict: Mid-Tier (6/10)
Solid show with two pretty good main events and a tag team debut. I’m giving match of the episode honors to the Opera Cup semi-final bout between Low Ki and Holliday.
Low Ki beat my prediction but Holliday didn’t look bad here. Check out the show below and tune in later this week for #114.
