Sami Callihan Wanted Jon Moxley In Impact Wrestling Following WWE Exit

It feels like ages ago now, when it was announced in advance that Dean Ambrose was leaving WWE. A former member of The Shield, former WWE Champion, one of their biggest missed chances was gone. He wasn’t looking back, and was ready to refind his passion for professional wrestling as Jon Moxley.

The rest is history in the making. He’d be one of the big stars that got All Elite Wrestling (AEW) moving, won over crowds in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) with an incredible run in the G1 Climax and two runs as IWGP United States Champion. Hell, he even adopted a Young Lion in Shota Umino, helping a future star find his personality before excursion.

However, if he had listened to a close friend from his days in Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), things could have gone differently, as Sami Callihan wanted him in Impact Wrestling.

Sami Callihan Wants Jon Moxley Back

A report from Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net indicates that Sami Callihan had attempted to court Moxley into joining Impact Wrestling following his WWE release. In addition to that, it was also revealed that Callihan is good friends with Kenny Omega, and could have had a bigger role than expected when it comes to the AEW / Impact Wrestling crossover.

Had Jon Moxley joined up with Impact Wrestling, things could have gone very differently. His presence in AEW was huge, instantly being one of their biggest names. Moxley in Impact Wrestling would have done the same thing, and helped more people give them another chance.

He’d almost certainly have been Impact World Champion by now, and could have been the one to feud with Sami Callihan instead of Tessa Blanchard, saving Impact some serious grief in how she acted as champion.

A Switchblade Conspiracy Reunion Is Back On The Table

At the time of writing, Impact Wrestling & AEW are working together. AEW World Champion Kenny Omega showed up on Impact Wrestling, and it was the talk of the wrestling world. This opens a door between the two promotions that was previously not something fans even considered. It has opened up matches like FTR vs. The North, Motor City Machine Guns vs. The Young Bucks, Abadon vs. Rosemary.

Obviously, it also means Sami Callihan can get his wish, and have another chance to face off with Jon Moxley. They might team up to bring back Switchblade Conspiracy, but a match between the two is inevitable. It could happen on AEW TV, but if they are serious about helping out Impact Wrestling, sending over Moxley for the tapings could go a very long way. A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
