Last year, we reported that WWE had made another potentially big signing for the NXT Women’s division. This is 24 year of Sareee, who has been signed to WWE since February of 2020, but who has yet to be able to report to the WWE Performance Center. Sareee was set to move to the United States and report to the WWE Performance Center in March, before COVID-19 shut down those plans.
After spending a few months out of the ring, WWE approved her returning to the ring in Japan around August. Over the past few months, she’s worked promotions like SEAdLINNG, WAVE, Ice Ribbon and Sendai Girls. However, next week is her final event in Japan, as she starts the move to America to begin WWE full time.
Sareee Another Big Boost To The NXT Women’s Division
It’s hard to not get excited about someone like Sareee making her way to the NXT Women’s division, which might be the best in the world right now. Between NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai, and contenders like Dakota Kai, Raquel Gonzalez, Toni Storm, Ember Moon and Xia Li? The division is better than ever. Now, we can add Sareee in over the next few months, and things will only get better.
Sareee will come in with huge expectations, having to follow Asuka, Kairi Sane & Io Shirai becoming NXT Women’s Champion. However, she will not have a hard time meeting those expectations, truly being one of the standout talents in the Joshi scene over the past few years. Her matches are as hard hitting as they come, and setting her loose with someone like Xia Li or Io Shirai should lead to an instant classic.
We shouldn’t expect Sareee to debut in NXT until at least April at the earliest. Her final match with SEAdLINNNG is next week, then she will have to quarantine for two weeks when she hits America. Add in the time it takes to move house and get used to her new surroundings, and mid to late 2021 debut is likely.
