AEW Dynamite Results: Legit Lelya Hirsch vs. Thunder Rosa [AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator Tournament]

It’s time to get into the AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator tournament. We start with action from the American bracket with Legit Leyla Hirsch taking on former NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa. Both are coming off recent losses, Hirsch to Penelope Ford and Rosa to Britt Baker. A win here puts them one step closer to a shot at Hikaru Shida, and neither is going to make moving forward easy.

Some Excellent Wrestling From Hirsch & Rosa

Hirsch & Rosa locked up hard in the middle of the ring, Rosa dropping down to counter the low gravity of Hirsch, but getting outwrestled all the same. Rosa had her arm nabbed, but she’d get the leg of Hirsch, but quickly lose control. Hirsch took two arm drags, a gut kick and a scoop slam, before Rosa hit the running senton for a two count.

Showing her wrestling skills, Hirsch got a waist lock and rolled Rosa around, before going to the top rope with wrist control and getting a hurricanrana. Rosa spilled to the outside, before Hirsch nailed a dive. Hirsch wanted a second dive, but Rosa got back in the ring and almost ended up in an armbreaker. Rosa was sent to the apron, but Hirsch took a neckbreaker off the ropes.

Now with control, Rosa would choke Hirsch on the ropes before hitting a snapmare and some carefully measured kicks. She’d apply a headscissor, and Hirsch was having a hard time breaking this hold as Rosa slammed her head into the mat. Rosa nailed some short european uppercuts in the corner, before Hirsch managed a double knee armbreaker.

Thunder Rosa Punches Her Ticket To The Next Round

Hirsch would stomp away at the arm of Rosa, before going for a vertical suplex, but Rosa slipped down into a cutter. Rosa followed up with a low sliding lariat in the corner, before a shotgun dropkick to the chest. The double underhook was blocked with a German Suplex, Hirsch nailing two of them before Rosa threw her into the corner and rushed in with an elbow strike.

Hirsch climbed to the second rope and dove off with a crossbody, before setting up the big moonsault. She only found the knees of Rosa on the way down, but Rosa took a series of bicycle knee strikes to the head. Again, she wanted the moonsault, and missed once again. A knee strike from Rosa got a two count, before trying for the Fire Thunder Driver and Hirsch countered into a choke.

Rosa countered the choke with a powerbomb, hit the Fire Thunder Driver and won this first round match to advance. She faces the winner of Riho vs. Serena Deeb in the next round. The first round of the Japan side of the bracket comes Monday on the AEW Youtube channel.
