The Queen’s Gambit star, Anya Taylor-Joy just pulled off a checkmate! On Sunday night, Anna won her first-ever Golden Globe at the 2021 ceremony.

Anna Taylor went home with the Best Actress in a Limited Series, Miniseries or TV Movie Award for the role she played in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit. This makes her the first Latina to ever win the category.
Annai beat the The Undoing‘s Nicole Kidman, Mrs. America‘s Cate Blanchett, Normal People‘s Daisy Edgar-Jones and Unorthodox‘s Shira Haas at the “game”. She gave a shout-out to them during her speech. Anna said, “Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! Nicole, Cate, everybody, thank you. I’ve spent so much time with you over lockdown, I feel like I know you. Thank you so much for your work.”
Anna Taylor also thanked Streaming Giant, Netflix, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and The Queen’s Gambit‘s “beautiful cast and crew,” including her “wonderful movie dad” Bill Camp, and Scott Frank, the show’s creator. She said, “I would do this project again and again and again. I learned so much and I’m so grateful. Thank you to the audiences that have watched it and supported the characters. It meant the world.”
Taylor was also nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical Motion Picture for her role in Emma, but she didn’t win this. The award went to I Care A Lot‘s Rosamund Pike.

It was a big night for the crew of the Netflix show, as The Queen’s Gambit itself was nominated for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology or TV Movie, and it won. The Queen’s Gambit is not doubt a favorite show for many Netflix users. It has received lots of excellent reviews by critics.
The Queen’s Gambit is based in Walter Tevis’ 1983 novel, The Queen’s Gambit. It follows the story of Beth Harmon, an orphan who took interest in the game of Chess and became addicted to it. Beth struggles with addiction as she strives to become the world’s greatest chess player.
