It almost feels as though the WWE are pressing the reset button on the past 12 months, by going into the upcoming WrestleMania in the same venue with once again the action spread across two nights. The two-night Mania did work to some degree last year, as it gave talent a longer period of time in the ring on the biggest night of the year.
There was also the ability to have two main events of Mania, which will be the same once again this year. But, with two huge title matches set to take place on the opening night, which match could headline the card?
WWE News: Drew McIntyre vs Bobby Lashley
This is without doubt the biggest WrestleMania match in Bobby Lashley’s career. Of course, he was involved in the match pitting Donald Trump against Vince McMahon, but that was mainly about the two billionaires rather than the Almighty himself. Night one of Mania is all about Lashley, and his WWE Championship.
He and Drew McIntyre have already gone to battle for the title over the past 12 months, but Lashley is now booked as the monster than he should be, and that is the biggest difference coming into this match. The two heavyweights have the ability to bring the house down with a massive battle for the ages, but could the fact that McIntyre already had his Mania main event moment go against him when it comes to closing the show?
WWE News: Sasha Banks vs Bianca Belair
Instead, we could potentially see a second women’s main event at WrestleMania, as there is a growing feeling that the two SmackDown superstars will contest the main event on the first night. There is absolutely no denying that Banks and Belair will deliver potentially one of the all-time great women’s Mania matches, and if that is the case, then there is no reason why they shouldn’t main event the first night.
The story is clear already, and that will revolve around the fact that both women believe that they are the best in the women’s division. Banks deserves this spot on the Grandest Stage of them all, and her and Belair could raise the bar for what the second night has to follow with a match for the ages. However, there isn’t much doubt that should this match go on last, then it will lead to a new champion being crowned to bring a close to the action.
