LA Knight made a successful in ring debut for NXT last week, dominating August Grey despite a heavy distraction from Bronson Reed. Knight drew the ire of Reed when he cost him a match against Cameron Grimes, and Reed fired back by destroying the custom made jacket of Knight.
Tonight, they get to sort out their issues in a simple one on one grudge match. Beating August Grey isn’t easy, but beating Bronson Reed is on another level since he’s hit his stride. He knows that beating a hot prospect like LA Knight is an easy way to getting title matches, and killing the hype Knight carries with him.
Bronson Reed Starts Off Hot
Reed would not stand for the trash talk of Knight, and hit some heavy handed chops before sending him flying with a shoulder block. He’d send him flying with a back body drop, before Knight went to the middle rope and looked for a double axe handle. Reed caught him with a powerslam, before applying a headlock.
Knight fought free, only to fall again to the carefully directed chops of Reed and stuck in another submission on the mat. Reed looked for a suplex, but Knight slipped behind only to take a back elbow strike. Knight went to the apron and hit a stun gun, followed up by a diving shoulder tackle. He had the big man down, and would stomp him as we went into a commercial break.
LA Knight Gets Crushed
Coming back from the break, Knight kept control by shoving Reed into the steel steps, before taking him back into the ring. He hit shoulder tackles in the corner, a low dropkick, and a knee trembler to the side of the head. Reed was fighting from beneath at this point, and Knight kept the pressure on with some strikes.
Knight showed his ring savvy when he dodged a body splash in the corner and hit a swift neckbreaker. Reed got back up, and a bloody lip got him moving again. He took Knight down with a body press, before the swinging chokeslam. Reed had Knight in position for the Tsunami Splash, but took too long getting up top. Knight looked to drop him with a superplex, but was shoved off and hit with the splash for the win.
