Feuding with Dexter Lumis can take a lot out of someone, and it’s already taken a heavy toll on The Way. Lumis kidnapped Austin Theory at NXT Takeover: Vengeance Day, and held him until the following episode of NXT. This caused Theory to develop Stockholm syndrome, and he refused to hit Lumis with a chair during the match between Gargano & Lumis. Add in Indi Hartwell having a crush on Dexter Lumis, and Gargano & LeRae needed swift action. They needed the best therapist available to WWE, but Kyle O’Reilly was busy.
Johnny Gargano Might Need To Be In Therapy Himself
Theory thought he was going to Chuck E. Cheese, as Gargano’s had him in therapy. He’d respond to the questions of the therapist about what happened by saying he was on vacation. Theory was just hanging out with Lumis, who simply needed a friend. Hartwell would respond that she wanted to hang out with him next, as she doodled a “Mrs. Indi Wrestling Lumis” picture.
Gargano would end up having a massive outburst, before being kicked out of the room by the therapist after he tried to take her job. It became very clear that he was the one with an issue here. He would just wait outside the door, and now maybe the therapist could get to the bottom of this Theory & Lumis non-issue.
Austin Theory Gets His Space To Unpack This Issue
Theory just thinks that Lumis needs friends, and Hartwell wants to be friends with benefits. LeRae would be speaking for Gargano, and ran down the other victims of Lumis over the past few months. The therapist kicked out LeRae & Hartwell, and finally got one on one with Theory.
Theory would finally get a chance to unpack exactly what happened with Lumis. What really happened on those three days? He was in a small room with the windows boarded up, watched cartoons and ate cereal. Lumis is a nice guy in his eyes. The therapist spoke with Lumis earlier in the day, and Lumis gave Theory back because he couldn’t wait to get rid of him.
Lumis was absolutely disgusted by everything Theory stands for. This made Theory break into tears and run off to Gargano. Gargano had paid the therapist off for this session, everything went according to plan and she made bank.
