If you want to be considered one of the best in the world, and convince your own doubts as well? There is only one way to do it. You need to beat the best to be the best. This is why the undefeated Aoife Valkyrie laid down a challenge to Meiko Satomura by presenting her with a black feather.
She’s no longer going after small fries, she’s looking to soar into the main event of the NXT Women’s Championship scene by beating a legend. You can’t rise if you don’t take a chance, and this is the biggest match of Valkyrie’s career for sure.
Aoife Valkyrie Is In For A True Challenge
Valkyrie showed no fear as she stared across the ring at Satomura, giving a bow of respect before they locked up. Satomura was able to shove Valkyrie into the ropes, before throwing a quick kick to the leg. Valkyrie would try to do the same on the second lock up, but Satomura easily blocked the kick before taking Valkyrie to the mat.
Satomura would control Valkyrie and not let her fly around the ring or even grapple, blocking a head scissor attempt by flinging Valkyrie back to the mat. Valkyrie finally got free from Satomura by forcing a rope break. She’d get Satomura down to the mat with a crucifix pin for a two count, before going after the arm with a wrist lock.
Satomura countered with a head scissor hold, before getting back to her feet and hitting a diving shoulder tackle. Valkyrie would look for a sunset flip to get another pin fall attempt, but Satomura countered easily into an armbar. Satomura couldn’t get the full extension, and missed a roundhouse kick before taking a stiff running enzuigiri.
Satomura was sent to the outside by this, and Valkyrie hit a dropkick through the ropes for some more damage. Valkyrie pulled Satomura into the ring, and would get a two count before applying a double armlock. Satomura wouldn’t verbally submit, and was able to get the ropes with her feet. Valkyrie was dropped with a hard strike before Satomura went for a spinning toe hold, before rolling through into a deathlock.
Meiko Satomura Shows Why She’s The Final Boss
Now it was Valkyrie trying to get the ropes, and was able to reach out and break the hold. She’d trade strikes with Satomura, before having a kick blocked. Valkyrie was flipped onto her face and kicked right in the face, but kicked out at two. Satomura looked to set up the Death Valley Driver, but Valkyrie blocked and dodged a spinning wheel kick.
Valkyrie hit a Pele Kick for the two count, before going up top for her finisher. Satomura looked to stop her, before being driven into the mat with a powerbomb. Valkyrie went for the enzuguri again but missed and was dropped with a backdrop driver. Satomura missed the Scorpio Rising before taking a spinning heel kick and middle rope moonsault.
Peripeteia was attempted, but Satomura dodged and hit a snap DDT. Satomura would be impressed by Valkyrie still having fight, but hit a cartwheel knee drop before ending this with Scorpio Rising. The win streak of Valkyrie is over, but this was the most fight she’s ever shown in NXT UK.
She proved she can hang with the best of the world, and there is no shame in losing to Satomura. Will Aoife Valkyrie ever reach her true potential in NXT UK? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
