It’s time to get some new faces on WWE 205 Live. First up is Ari Sterling, formerly known as Alex Zayne. Fans of Game Changer Wrestling will remember that he signed in December 2020, and will finally make his TV debut. He also worked with Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling before signing with WWE. Tonight, he will face half of The Bollywood Boyz, Samir Singh in this debut match for 205 Live!
Ari Sterling Impresses In His Debut Match
Tom Phillips once again would refuse to dance at ringside, and Sterling wasn’t impressed by the theatrics of his opponent. Sterling & Singh showed some sportsmanship, before Singh took him down to the ring with a headlock. Singh would be countered into a headlock from Sterling, before being sent off the ropes and being hit with a shoulder tackle.
Sterling hit a deep arm drag and a headscissor, before sending Singh to the outside with a dropkick to send him outside. You’re not safe outside with Sterling, and he’d hit the Moonsauce to take Singh down. Back in the ring, Sterling applied a cravat, but Singh was able to counter out and slingshot Sterling out to the floor.
Singh would drag Sterling back in before looking for the Boston Crab, but did so far too close to the ropes and as Singh moved into a single leg crab, Sterling got the bottom rope. Sterling was pulled back to his feet, but hit a Pele Kick. Singh would counter a hurricanrana into a Boston Crab attempt, but Sterling was able to again break free.
Sterling hit some running lariats, before a front flip kick to the back of the neck. Singh would catch him with a roll up before looking for a spinning DDT. Sterling hit a facebuster out of a sidewalk slam position, and got the win in his debut! This is the first of many wins for Ari Sterling, who could be destined to become the NXT Cruiserweight Champion before long.
Samir Singh doesn’t wrestle many single matches for a reason. The tag team specialist looked awkward in this match, but provided a good platform for Ari Sterling to make his debut. He only showed a bit of his potential tonight, and we’re in for better things as Sterling gets better opponents. Match Rating: 2.75/5 (** 3/4)
