Hello and welcome to WWE Smackdown Live Results!
I’m your host, CP Bialois, and we’re set for what should be an interesting throwback edition of Smackdown tonight.
We’re expecting it to be more of an homage show like they’ve done on Raw with some matches thrown in to further the various storylines, so we’d better buckle up. No telling what’s coming.
WWE Smackdown Live Results will be back and ready to go at the 8 p.m. EST showtime, and we’ll see you then!
Segment 1
The show opened with clips from Triple H and the Rock’s WWE Championship match from August 26, 1999.
Reigns and company gave a mock 10 bell salute to Daniel Bryan’s career and welcomed Jimmy Uso to their group.
Cesaro and Rollins came out, and Teddy Long announced is Cesaro beats Rollins he’ll have his championship match against Reigns at Backlash.
Segment 2
Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro
This match started off fast as Rollins went after Cesaro, but Cesaro turned it around before Jey Uso distracted him for Rollins to his a superplex and Falcon’s Arrow for a near pinfall as we headed to commercial.
Segment 3
Cesaro won with a Neutralizer after Rollins told the Usos to stay out of his business and then ate a superkick from Jimmy.
Segment 4
Teddy Long made a 10 man tag match coming after the break, and Jimmy told Reigns off and that he’s no one’s b—- before walking off.
Segment 5
Ruby Riott w/Liv Morgan vs. Carmella
This was a decent but fast match Carmella won with a Cone of Silence for the submission.
Segment 6
Bayley and Bianca Belair exchanged words and Bayley used Belair’s earing to throw Belair around to send a message.
Jimmy told Jey he meant what he said to Reigns, and said the Usos as tag champions with Reigns as Universal Champion represents the family.
Segment 7
Dominik Mysterio w/Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler w/Robert Roode
After Ziggler insulted him, Dominik challenged him to a match and Rey gave him his spot.
This was an okay match Dominik won by countering a suplex into a small package. Ziggler dominated and mocked him throughout and that cost him the match.
Segment 8
Reginald w/Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler vs. Tamina w/Natalya
Tamina won by DQ when Baszler pushed her off the top rope, and the champions beat down Tamina and Natalya, spending extra time on Tamina for disrespecting Reginald.
Segment 9
Sami Zayn, Apollo Crews, Alpha Academy (Otis, Chad Gable), and King Corbin w/ Commander Azeez vs. Big E, Kevin Owens, The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins, Montez Ford), and Shinsuke Nakamura
This started off with Gable and Dawkins putting on a clinic, and we headed to commercial with a brawl on the floor and Owens hitting a splash on Zayn off the apron.
Segment 10
Everyone had their moments, and Corbin won it with an End of Days on Nakamura. This was a decent match, but it felt like it was literally thrown together at the last minute.
Segment 11
Reigns gave Jimmy a chance to acknowledge him and join the family, but he chose to walk out of the ring instead. Jey went after him and Cesaro chose then to attack Reigns.
Jey ran back in the ring and Cesaro beat him down, and Jimmy quickly followed to help his brother but Cesaro hit him with a popup uppercut.
Cesaro then hit Jey and Reigns with Neutralizers before he headed off, leaving them laying in the ring.
This wasn’t a bad show, but it wasn’t good either. We hate to say it, but it’s more forgettable than not.
What do you think of it? Let us know in the comments below and thank you for joining WWE Smackdown Live Results. We loved hanging out and can’t wait until next week.
