Officially Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley will have their showdown. A boxing match, in the 190-pound frame, scheduled for August 28.
“It’s official. I have a list of people I plan on knocking out and going into my fourth pro fight, I’m excited to cross the first one off the list. Testing myself against five-time UFC champion Tyron Woodley, known for his knockout power.” Jake Paul via Instagram.
Jake Paul predicts a second-round knockout of Tyron Woodley
The famous youtuber, and now boxer, predicts an early win over the former UFC welterweight champion. Paul is undefeated with a 3-0 record. He will step back into the ring confident that he will stretch his winning record. His last win was a viral KO over former UFC fighter and ONE Championship and Bellator champion Ben Askren.
While former UFC 170-pound champion Tyron Woodley will be making his boxing debut. ‘The Chosen One’ has a record of 19 wins, 7 losses and 1 draw in MMA. He conquered the welterweight belt in 2016, and had four successful defenses. Until in 2019, the championship was taken from him by the current champion, Kamaru Usman.
After losing his title he had a streak of three more defeats, the last of which was in March of this year. At UFC 260, when he was submitted by Vicente Luque. He eventually ended his contract with the company and became a free agent.
Woodley was in Ben Askren‘s corner, when the latter faced and was knocked out by the youtuber. Before the fight started, in the locker room, he had an exchange of words with Jake Paul and his team.
“Tyron talked too much in the locker room when I knocked out his best friend Ben, and he earned a spot on the ‘Problem Child’ death list. Tyron is an experienced striker who took on the best MMA fighters in the world, but he’ll get knocked out by a Disney star in two rounds.”
In the same Instagram post where he announces his feud with Woodley, he took the opportunity to take a shot at the UFC president.
“Maybe this time Dana White will be a man of his word and bet on his former champion, instead of trying to tear down my accomplishments like a jealous ex-boyfriend. Influencer vs. MMA. let’s get it done. It’s time for action.”
T-Wood also expressed himself on social networks, and for Ariel Helwani he stated:
"Easiest fight of my career & biggest purse of my career all in one night. Basically, they brought me in to take out the trash. Can't wait to shut this b*tch up. This is getting done for the culture, the whole MMA/boxing community, to rid this guy of combat sports.”
