Paulo Costa has pulled out of another headlining fight and once again it will be Kelvin Gastelum who will take his place.
It was reported late Friday night that Costa would not be facing Jared Cannonier on August 21 as previously announced. Initially it was not known the official reasons why Paulo had decided not to fight. However, the fighter took to his Twitter account and explained his side of the situation.
Paulo Costa refuses to fight and asks for more money from UFC
Apparently the Brazilian is not satisfied with the compensation offered by UFC. Taking advantage of the confirmation of Tyron Woodley’s fight with Jake Paul, Costa criticizes the salaries paid by UFC and asks for a better remuneration.
UFC needs to pay me as main fighter to have fighting in main events.
Youtubers are showing all disgrace on this business.

“UFC needs to pay me as a star fighter to have me fighting in star events. The youtubers are showing all the disgrace of this business.”
Faced with the barrage of criticism and questioning that began to reach him, the Brazilian assured that he had never signed a contract to fight Cannonier.
Just to be clear. I never signed or locked up that contract. Why ufc announced this fight if didn’t signed? My question too

“Just to be clear. I never signed or confirmed that contract. Why did UFC announce this fight if I didn’t sign? I’m wondering that myself.”
Gastelum again benefits from a decision by Paulo Costa to pull out of a fight. Kelvin comes from being defeated by Robert Whittaker in April. On that occasion he also came in as a replacement for the Brazilian.
For his part, Cannonier will also come into the bout with a loss to Whittaker last October. Jared suffered an arm injury that required surgery and has not fought since.
The August 21 event has no venue yet, but does have a lineup ready. Following the departure of Paulo Costa, these are now the scheduled fights.
