Despite losing to EC3 at Best In The World, Flip Gordon is ready to enter the biggest match in his ROH career. At Glory By Honor Night One, Gordon will face new ROH World Champion Bandido, but needs to start building momentum. Tonight, he will be facing World Famous CB, who has recent wins over Wheeler Yuta, Will Ferrara, Eric Martin and Ryan Mooney, and could get his biggest win ever by taking out Gordon. This is his first non-pure rules match in a long time, potentially giving him some issues.
Flip Gordon Tries To Kick CB Out
Code of Honor would be denied by Gordon before he drove CB into the corner. Some slaps to the chest would come before CB would look to use his Pure Wrestling skills, working Gordon down to the mat. Gordon is no slouch in this world, being a former state champion in Amateur Wrestling, being able to get a wheelbarrow pinfall to close out their opening exchange.
CB applied a headlock, but was shoved off and a shoulder tackle didn’t do much to help him. Instead, he’d get a nice armdrag to send Gordon to the corner, before slipping out and back into the ring with another armdrag. Now grounded, Gordon would have his arm and fingers bent back, before CB rolled him into the pinfall.
Gordon went for a lariat, and CB seamlessly blocked and grabbed a standing armbar, only to be sent off towards the ropes and kicked right in the jaw. CB would tumble outside, before Gordon followed and slammed him off the apron.
World Famous CB Has To Submit To Flip
Back in the ring, CB was abused on the mat before being dumped to the outside again. Gordon would send him over the barricade and hit a double axe handle as he lept off onto CB.Back in the ring once again, Gordon would continue to stalk after CB and charge at him in the corner.
A quick side-step from CB saw Gordon hit steel, and the arm would be wrenched before CB hit a huge armbreaker before stomping the arm and looking for a Kimura lock. Gordon would get to this feet and be taken back down as CB springboarded down, before Gordon finally broke the hold.
CB ws set up on the top rope for the Kinder Surprise kick before nailing the Back Flip. At this point, CB was in the middle of the ring, and the Submit to Flip was applied, ending this match via submission.
A solid exhibition match, with World Famous CB showing his vast improvements over the past year as he took Gordon into deep waters. Sadly, it just took a few key moves to end him, but it was a fun match in the end. Match Rating: 2.75/5 (** 3/4)
