It’s all come down to this. Chris Jericho has played the games of MJF, and now finally gets his match against the man who tried to ruin The Inner Circle and end his career. Jericho has put down Shawn Spears, Nick Gage, Juventud Guerrera and Wardlow, and now MJF has to deal with Jericho himself. This time around, the stipulation is simple. The Judas Effect finisher is banned, as is the entrance music of Jericho. Taking away his biggest weapon and some of his swagger might give MJF the mental edge, as he looks to beat Jericho once again.
The Crowd Is Music To Chris Jericho’s Ears
Jericho would hit the ramp to no music, but the fans knew the song well enough and proved it for him. They nailed the chorus if nothing else, and it was a great moment that even MJF couldn’t ruin. It got around the ruling of MJF well, and Jericho has many finishers to use aside from Judas Effect.
A big MJF sucks chant would break out, before Jericho took the legs of MJF for the Liontamer, but MJF fled the ring. He’d linger on the apron getting back in, and took a triangle dropkick. A diving splash would take MJF down next, before they’d trade strikes out on the floor. MJF would pull Jericho into the barricade, before punching him right in the face.
Back in the ring, Jericho & MJF would trade blows in the corner, with MJF punching Jericho in the face and throwing him bad arm first into the steel post. That’s been a target for weeks, and MJF kept going as he bit away at the hand of Jericho. An armbreaker would continue the damage to the arm of Jericho, but Jericho wouldn’t let him get more than one.
Jericho would get out of an armlock after the fans hyped him up, but MJF stayed his course and went after the arm. He’d get some space and cause a double down, but Jericho was looking better. Heading up top, he’d hit a big double sledge off the top rope, before MJF went after the left arm once again.
MJF Does The Unthinkable
MJF would run into a double throat chop and take a lionsault, but this only got a two count. Jericho wouldn’t fall for MJF begging off in the corner, as he laid in some more chops and boots. MJF was placed up top, and taken down with the hurricanrana, but not before punching away at the punchable face of MJF.
He’d only get two, and MJF went after the arm with the Salt Of The Earth as soon as he kicked out. Jericho rolled through into the Walls Of Jericho, but MJF got the ropes. They traded punches in the middle of the ring before Jericho was sent over the ropes and hit with Heatseeker Piledriver for a two count.
Jericho would apply a sleeper hold, but MJF grabbed the referee and hit a low blow before applying the Liontamer himself. If anyone knows this hold, it’s Jericho, and he’d get to the ropes. Both men grabbed weapons, but MJF was seen first and Jericho got a shot from the bat. He’d look for Judas Effect but stop himself, only to take one from MJF who went into Salt of The Earth. With nowhere to go, Jericho had to tap out.
This was miles ahead of their last match, due to an excellent build and crowd. MJF got a huge win here, the biggest of his career by far, and perhaps got the best match anyone has had with Chris Jericho in years. Match Rating: 4.25/5 (**** 1/4)
