Following the AEW Women’s World Championship match on the debut episode AEW Rampage, Jamie Hayter made her return to the company. However, she was a completely different woman than what we saw before. Bigger, stronger, faster, and now aligned with Britt Baker. Tonight, she looks to prove how far she’s come when she takes on Red Velvet in singles action.
Jamie Hayter Wrecks Shop In Her Return Match
Hayter would be met by an early flurry of offense from Velvet, only to absorb a running dropkick and nail a fallaway slam. Velvet was thrown hard into the corner, before Hayter would nail an overhead Belly to Belly Suplex. Some chops would be followed by Velvet sending Hayter to the outside before nailing a series of dives to the outside.
Hayter would get the assist from Baker & Rebel on a distraction, before all but wrapping Velvet around the ringpost. With the referee distracted, Baker would get involved and ‘help’ Velvet into the ring. Hayter managed a two count, before sending Velvet back to the outside. She’d go out after Velvet, before launching her off the ramp and into the barricade.
Back in the ring, Hayter did a cocky one foot pinfall, before continuing to just control Velvet. A comeback would be attempted, only for Hayter to nail some nasty looking forearms. Velvet managed to strike Hayter down with some lariats, before a wheelbarrow bulldog. A running double knee to the back of Hayter would be followed by a missed standing moonsault. Hayter hit a chokebreaker and massive lariat for the win.
After the match, Kris Statlander would come to the aid of Velvet before squaring off with Baker. They will clash at All Out, and Statlander would get hold of the AEW Women’s Championship.
A great job match, with Velvet making Hayter look like an absolute killer, without looking like a complete chump. However, the result was always obvious. Match Rating: 2/5 (**)
Elsewhere, Dark Order would be divided. Recently, there has been some tension due to Hangman Page choosing to fight alone. Stu Greyson & Evil Uno held the line, and prevented the others from saving Page from The Elite. Alex Reynolds would mouth off to Evil Uno tonight, claiming that his ring name doesn’t make him the leader of Dark Order before storming off.
The cracks are clear, and a new leader could be needed soon. Does the Dark Order need a new leader to stay together and united? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
