In a last minute addition to the card, we have one of the oddest trios matches in AEW history. One side has an all star trio of Jon Moxley, Darby Allin & Eddie Kingston. The other has indy star Daniel Garcia, who has previously worked AEW Dark, and the former Ever-Rise of NXT, in their first post WWE appearance. This is going to be an unpredictable one, and we can’t rule out an upset victory. Entering AEW and calling out some of the top men in the company is a power move, but will it pay off?
Hangman Page Splits From Dark Order
Before this match, we’d check in on The Dark Order & Hangman Page. Page takes the blame for the loss and Dark Order losing their title shot, and wants to go their separate ways. He needs to do this fight alone for now, and as the supportive friends they are? They are going to let him do his thing, but will always have his back. This isn’t forever, just for right now.
Jon Moxley Leads His Team To Victory
Garcia would start alongside Allin, and wasted no time getting started. They’d have a quick clash before locking up in the middle of the ring, with Garcia able to match the speed and technical skills of Allin. A big uppercut stunned Allin, and Matt Lee tagged himself in and hit a cheap shot on Allin.
Lee would drive Allin into the corner, with Kingston grabbing a tag. There is a lot of history between Kingston & 2.0, and Lee asked if Kingston wanted to take a swing at him. Kingston gladly did, and beat Lee into the corner where Moxley got some cheap choking in behind the back of the referee.
Another big chop from Kingston was followed by him hitting the ropes, and taking a knee to the back from Jeff Parker. As we went into the picture-in-picture break, Parker & Lee showed their tag team dominance, with Garcia showing to be a quick learner. The drop toe-hold & elbow drop combo would punish the back.
As Moxley got close to getting a tag, Garcia would kick the arm of Kingston and have Moxley maul him on the outside for it. Sting would stare down Lee & Parker, with Lee getting starstruck by Sting and taking a dive from Allin. Garcia & Moxley got tags, and 2.0 ran into the ring and was promptly taken out. He’d nail the Paradigm Shift, and Allin would tag in to finish with Coffin Drop.
This is the way to rehab after a WWE release, as 2.0 were shown as crafty tag team veterans. They got more offense than expected in this match, and 2.0 meshed so well with Garcia. However in the end, you don’t beat the all-stars, and Moxley would get the win for his team. Match Rating: 2.5/5 (** 1/2)
