Rey Horus is on his own for the first time in ROH. Mexisquad has dissolved, and while he remains friends with Bandido, tag team action is no longer the focus. Tonight, Horus looks to prove he can hang in singles action as he takes on Silas Young one on one. Horus has previously been able to snatch wins over the likes of Dalton Castle, but Silas Young truly is one of the toughest men ROH has to offer.
Silas Young Disrespects The Crowd
Before things got started, Young would hype the crowd up. This is their first proper show back, they’re out of Maryland, back in the birthplace of ROH. However, Philadelphia is, in his opinion, the worst wrestling city in the world. In a few moments, he’s going to beat Rey Horus’s ass. When he wins, he needs the crowd to chant his name or he will personally tear every single person in this crowd a new one.
Horus would hit the ring, and we’d see Code of Honor adhered too. Young wouldn’t let go of the handshake right away, and this one started with a shove. Horus grabbed a side headlock, before being hit with a shoulder tackle and sent to the mat. Young would grab the wrist of Horus, but Horus was quick to turn this around. However, Young was able to easily break out and show his technical skills.
Horus however would win out on speed, sliding under Young and hitting a kick to the head. Young would need to keep Horus isolated, and stop him from moving. Horus would hit a flying headscissor, before taking a backbreaker into the lariat for a two count. Young would follow up with a snap suplex, getting another two count before shoving Horus to the floor.
Rey Horus Gets The Crowd Excited
A double axe handle to the back would continue the attack on the floor, before Horus was thrown into the barricade. Horus fought back with some chops, before being kicked in the stomach. He’d rally back and hit a hurricanrana into the barricade, before taking a shot to the throat.
However, Horus would catch Young jawjacking, and hit a dropkick through the ropes before diving over the corner post. Back in the ring, Horus went up top, where Young caught him down with a superplex for a two count. A powerbomb attempt would be dashed, before Young went after the mask of Horus and was able to nail Misery for the win. This
This was a great opener that really got the crowd excited. Young & Horus showed great chemistry for their first ever one on one match, and Young bending the rules to win was a solid finish. Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)
