When Ruby Soho made her debut at All Out and won the Casino Battle Royale, she was shot right to the top of the AEW Women’s division. However, tonight is her biggest test in years as she looks to take down Britt Baker and claim the AEW World Women’s Championship. Soho is an incredible and well respected wrestler, but can she beat Baker, who is at the top of her game as they main event the biggest Dynamite ever?
Is Ruby Soho Ready To Step Up?
Baker & Soho got as loud of reactions as anyone on this show, showing why they’re in the main event. Jaime Hayter & Rebel backed up Baker like always, and they’d hopefully stay out of the action. Soho would take Baker down to the mat, and slam her head down. Baker would be able to get up, and would try to out maneuver Soho, only to take a knee strike to the face.
She wanted that big kick, but Baker would bail to the outside and get council from Hayter & Rebel – who were taken down with a crossbody. Baker avoided this, and nailed a superkick to set up a Dragon Whip Neckbreaker onto the floor. Soho would almost be counted out, but was able to get herself back into the ring. Baker would hit a suplex before bending the shoulder of Soho around the ring post.
Soho would be kept in the corner, only being taken out for some trapped knee strikes from Baker. Baker would finally get some offense with Deadly Nightshade in the corner, before a trio of running thrust kicks in the corner. Soho would look for a Flatliner but was blocked and went for a backdrop instead.
Britt Baker Gets Some Help
Baker was able get a superkick, but collapsed afterwards. She’d try for The Lockjaw, but Soho was able to block. A slingblade from Baker dropped Soho, and Baker got her glove on and wanted the stomp first. Soho caught the leg of Baker and got a single leg crab, before launching Baker into the corner before an enziguri.
Baker would take the diving senton from Soho, but was able to kick out before three. A big neckbreaker got a near fall for Baker, and she’d stay focused and looked to go for Panama Sunrise. Soho caught her and looked for a suplex to the floor, only to take a Super Air Raid Crash. She’d still manage to kick out, not ready to give up yet.
Rolling outside, Soho had her face slammed off the steel steps – and back in the ring she’d take a Curb Stomp. Still not enough, and Baker would argue with the referee and take the No Future kick. Hayter and Rebel made the assist, and Soho was locked in Lockjaw and had to tap.
While it had some rocky moments, they really pulled it together in the end to have a great back and forth match. Ruby Soho is as tough as ever, and Baker needed help to beat her which was a great way to keep her in the mix. Match Rating: 3.75/5 (****)
