For over a year now, NJPW Strong has been consistently one of the better weekly wrestling programs. It mainly just suffered from a tired arena and lack of fans – both of which have been remedied in the latest set of tapings. Fans are in the building, adding new energy to the matches – and the relaunch episode has big names in Hiroshi Tanahashi & Tomohiro Ishii!
Hiroshi Tanahashi & Tomohiro Ishii Get Wins On Strong
Ishii would actually start the proceedings this time around, facing Alex Coughlin in one of his challenge series matches. Coughlin is presently a Young Lion of the LA Dojo, and is trying to break out and graduate. He’d give Ishii a good fight and manage to throw him around a bit, but despite his best efforts he was unable to keep him down. A vertical drop brainbuster got Ishii the win.
Next up was a six man tag team match, with Hiroshi Tanahashi leading Clark Conners & Karl Fredericks against the Stray Dog Army. Their name says it all, with them having little in common but Barrett Brown, Misterioso & BATEMAN held their own here. It was a standard but exciting six man tag team match, with Fredericks getting the win after 13 minutes of action.
Will Ospreay Beats Down Karl Fredericks
Following the six man tag team match, Fredericks would call out Will Ospreay. At Resurgence, Ospreay would bad mouth the LA Dojo – the family of Fredericks. He wants to face the self proclaimed “Real World Champion”, who he claims is just an asshole. Ospreay would show up, a brawl ensued, and Fredericks took The Hidden Blade, and was left unconscious. However in Dallas later this month at the next tapings? He gets his shot.
We’d then come to the main event of the show, where Juice Robinson and Hikuelo looked to settle their rivalry in a Tables Match. Robinson has been doing a lot to get Hikuleo over as a monster, and bumping like mad in a tables match was a great step. There was one scary moment where Robinson hit a senton onto a table, and it didn’t break. Hikuleo used this chance to hit the Tongan Driver through the table for the win. Feud isn’t over however, and will continue with a strap match in Dallas.
Will Robinson be able to overcome Hikuelo in Dallas? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
