Miranda Alize & Rok-C both have chances to make history in Ring of Honor. They’re the two finalists in the ROH Women’s World Championship tournament, and tonight one of them will get to hold the belt up high for the first time. Whoever wins here is the face of the ROH Women’s division as it truly gets started, and either the Lucha Baddie or The Prodigy would be perfect in that role.
This will be one of respect, honor and skill – what this company is truly all about. It’s been a long Quest for Gold, and only one lady will have her hand raised and gold around her waist when it’s over. Rok-C was a fan favorite early on, but that could change.
Mirada Alize Says No Code Of Honor
Alize would reject the Code of Honor before they’d lock up. Rok-C would be shoved into the corner, before taking Alize down with an armdrag. Alize went for a hammerlock, and was countered as Rok-C applied the hold instead. Rok-C would be countered out, before going for the Fujiwara Armbar and crossface. Alize would know this was coming, and was able to block it.
A leg trip caught Rok-C, before Alize went for a headscissor takedown. However, Rok-C landed on her feet and would take Alize down for a moonsault knee drop – but missed. Alize would be sick of the grandstanding, and go for the face of Rok-C with a slap. Rok-C hit a Thesz Press, but getting aggressive didn’t suit her, and Alize would hang her up on the ropes and slam her head first into the mat.
Alize would follow up with a big face wash book in the corner before a hesitation dropkick. Rok-C made a comeback with an armdrag attempt, but Alize fought into a counter and bit the fingers of Rok-C. Alize would continue the aggression with a choke in the corner, before starting a mocking “Let’s go Rok-C” chant as she applied a chinlock.
Rok-C Digs Deep
Rok-C got free briefly before taking a jawbreaker over the ropes, and a step through basement hurricanrana for a two count. Alize would finally lose control as Rok-C hit a running uppercut in the corner before a double knee strike. A Thesz Press from the second rope and a big Russian Leg Sweep set up the Rok-Knees for the two count.
Alize would catch Rok-C with a ripcord knee, but a lazy cover only got a two count. A modified Go to Sleep still wasn’t enough, and Rok-C kept fighting. She’d hit a Mule Kick out of the corner, before taking a DDT off the middle ropes, but still kicked out. Miranda Right would be applied, and Rok-C was trapped in the middle of the ring, but was able to pull to the ropes.
Rok-C went outside and threw Alize into the barricade before a tope through the middle and bottom ropes. Alize would take the dive and hit one of her own. The referee started the count, and this nearly ended with a double countout, before both ladies made it back in. They’d go head to head with forearm blows, officially in Deep Waters.
Alize would wait too long after a big blow, and Rok-C nailed a big one of her own. Miranda Rights would be applied once again and Rok-C went for a counter and got the crossface but it was countered! Alize hit a big kick and the Drive By was next, but Rok-C nailed a Code Red for the win!
It took a bit to get going, but once Alize settled into the heel role and Rok-C showed she is a great underdog babyface? It all clicked. They gave their all, and while it wasn’t a clean match exactly, it was pretty great. Both ladies have a way to go still, but their potential is crystal clear. An excellent start to this titles legacy! Match Rating: 4/5 (****)
