For several weeks now, Will Ospreay has been hyping up the next set of tapings for NJPW Strong. He would be there instead of taking place in the G1 Climax, and would be adding a new member to his United Empire faction. Already having Great-O-Khan, Jeff Cobb, Aaron Henare & Aussie Open in the ranks makes them incredibly strong – but lacking a Junior Heavyweight.
Despite this, Ospreay mainly teased heavyweight names. He’d tease the likes of Buddy Matthews, Bronson Reed, Braun Strowman, and even Chris Hero. Hero was the only one to really shut down the rumor mill – but fans would still have to wait and see.
Will Ospreay Adds TJP To The United Empire
Following Will Ospreay successfully defeating Karl Fredericks at Autumn Attack – he’d be joined by the newest member of United Empire. This was TJ Perkins – better known as simply TJP. TJP has been working with NJPW Strong since its inception, being an OG member of the LA Dojo system.
He’d often team up with Clark Conners and others from the latest class of the LA Dojo in NJPW, while also working for Impact Wrestling & Major League Wrestling. Despite this, NJPW always suited his style best. He’s a truly talented grappler, a near perfect blend of speed and technique that could make him truly dangerous in the NJPW Junior Heavyweight division.
Finally Claiming Gold In NJPW?
Now with the backing of a deadly group like United Empire – TJP might be a major threat in NJPW finally. He has never claimed the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship in his career, something which many feel would truly complete his journey. Hell, he’s never even challenged for the title over his 22 year career. Right now he’s focused on helping out the ‘Real World Heavyweight Champion’ in New Japan Pro Wrestling of America, but with Best of the Super Juniors on the horizon? TJP might be on his way to Japan before long.
Best of The Super Juniors is running alongside World Tag League this year once again, meaning the winner gets a chance at Robbie Eagles & the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom in Tokyo Dome. United Empire are expected to have a strong presence on this tour, but it might not include Will Ospreay himself.
However, O-Khan & Cobb are a deadly tag team, Aussie Open as well, and TJP might be needed to fill out Best of The Super Juniors. Do you think TJP could win Best of The Super Juniors this year? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
