The forbidden door is opening slowly between all companies except for AEW well until now. WWE are still kind of denying AEW even existing, but the wrestlers have started to reference the wrestlers on the other side of the door. We have had a lot of Brode Lee references that are understandable with so many friends in WWE. But the big surprise is Edge referencing both members of AEW’s FTR not by their AEW names but by their real names, David and Daniel.
Why did Edge reference the top AEW tag team?
The segment on Smackdown involves Seth Rollins breaking into Edge’s house. After Edge realized that Seth Rollins, he rang Beth, his wife and said not to go home, he also mentioned about getting David and Daniel to sort Seth Rollin out. The reason for this reference could be that Edge and FTR became very good friends when Edge was on the road out of retirement. FTR trained with Edge and most likely helped Edge to come out of retirement.
The reason most likely for this reference
Since then, we even got a reaction from a member of FTR with Davis (Dax) tweeting a reaction saying this:
“I’ll go over there right now & beat his little bitchass.”
It doesn’t look like FTR will be appearing on WWE any time soon, but this little reference was definitely an interesting one. However, it feels like, at the moment, it’s more likely we see Edge go to AEW rather than FTR return to WWE as they did not end on very good terms.
