Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow has spoken on the extreme fear that she felt during her pregnancy with her daughter Apple.
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow Details Her Harrowing Pregnancy With Her Daughter Apple-‘It Was Crazy, We Almost Died’
Gwyneth, for her part, is a mother to two children: Apple and Moses. While it has been 17 years since she welcomed her daughter, the trauma of the birth has stayed with her until this day.
She had to undergo an emergency C-section in order for the doctors to ensure a safe delivery. But looking back, her life may have been in the balance.
In an interview on the ‘Armchair Expert’ podcast, she said: “My daughter was an emergency. It was crazy, we almost died. It was, like, not good.”
Going through something once like this is enough for it to stay with you for a lifetime, but imagine that it happened twice. Well, in the case of Gwyneth, that is exactly what happened. Just three years after she welcomed Apple, she gave birth to her son Moses.
In the same way, she had to undergo another C-section. And this experience has also changed the way that she looks at her body forever. She added: “There’s a big scar across your body, and you’re like, ‘Oh wow, that didn’t used to be there.
“If I see someone [say], ‘Oh, I just gave birth two weeks ago and I have a completely washboard stomach,’ I’m like, ‘Wow, that’s not what I [looked like].”
This expectation of looking a certain way has made Gwenyth feel very conscious about herself. It is not to say that she cares about what others have to say, but rather by being in the public eye, she will always be judged.
Her following comments confirmed as much: “Now we’re being fed all of these other images of what we’re supposed to look like all the time — babies, no babies, whatever.”
Gwenyth did stop at two children which is no surprise given what she went through in her two pregnancies. However, in this way, it also shows that she was willing to do whatever it took to be a mother. And looking back, that should be commended.
