Fans of 205 Live are used to seeing Ariya Daivari wrestle on Friday Nights, but tonight you won’t see him on the WWE Network. Instead, the recently released Daivari will make a case for AEW to hire him, as he takes on the rising rookie of Dante Martin. Both men are in their hometown for this one, adding some extra fire for both. Martin will not have Lio Rush to coach him on however, as Rush is home after the tragic passing of his grandmother. Can he make Lio proud all the same?
Team Taz Is Watching Dante Martin, Extends Offer
Martin came into this one on a four match win streak – all since joining Lio Rush. Daivari is making his debut for AEW, and with Tony Nese already here – he wants to get back to running Friday Nights. A handshake would come, and on commentary all of Team Taz was scouting someone.
Martin would get a big dodge out of the corner with a leap, before hitting a head scissors and a low springboard dropkick. Daivari was being outsped here, so he’d pick his spot to trip Martin up and stop a springboard. Martin slowing down made it easy for a veteran like Daivari, who wrapped him up in the ropes for some chops and a leg drop for a two count.
A dropkick to the side of the head got another near fall, before Martin got his beautiful sunset flip for a two count. Daivari nailed a huge neckbreaker, the hammerlock lariat, and wanted that Golden Persian Splash. It landed, and this combo has ended many men under 205lbs – but not Dante Martin.
Martin would pick the ankle of Daivari and get a unique pinning predicament. He’d pull off his signature flipping dodge from the ropes, sending Daivair tumbling out before a jump from the mat to the top rope and onto Daivari. One more springboard moonsault – and this was done. Team Taz would hit the ring. Starks explained they wanted him. Hobbs gave a contract. HOOK offered some Old Dutch BBQ chips. How could you refuse?! Martin has some thinking to do.
The issue between Matt Hardy & Orange Cassidy needs to end, and tonight on Rampage we will see a PPV level bout. Hardy has spent months trying to take out Orange Cassidy, to the point where he likely doesn’t even know why he’s going after him. After hitting a chair assisted Side Effect on Dynamite, Hardy is ready to end things – and will get his chance tonight in a Lumberjack Match. YUTA, Chuck & Statlander have their flannel on, and frankly this has to end.
Hardy would put a 3k bounty on OC to start, causing a huge brawl. Jericho & Taz pondered coming to claim the bounty, but stayed on commentary. OC would pummel Hardy into the corner, before countering a Twist of Fate attempt with a backslide. Hardy sent OC outside, and Blade & Kassidy of HFO bashed him into the barricade.
Taz was still wondering if the 3k is worth it, as Hardy slingshotted OC into the ropes. Peter Avalon was back and mauling OC with Nemeth, Anthony Bowens, Nick Comoroto and more. Hardy took advantage in the ring, but only got a two count. Another mauling would be stopped by Best Friends. OC would throw Hardy out, before Best Friends launched him onto the crowd. Hardy was nailed with a crossbody, before getting the side effect.
Hardy was nailed with a crossbody, before getting the side effect. A huge DDT was nailed, before The Blade was shut down by YUTA. Taylor nailed a piledriver on Kassidy, before taking the Twist of Fate. OC would finally counter The Leech, and nail Beach Break and Orange Punches to everyone but Hardy. Blade would bring in Brass Knuckles, and nail OC before Hardy got the pin.
