Carrie Underwood has disapproved of American idol’s Luke Bryan over his joke about Aaron Rodgers’ Covid-19 vaccine scandal.
Carrie Underwood Displeased Following American Idol’s Luke Bryan Mocking Aaron Rodgers’ Covid-19 Vaccine Scandal
Aaron was accused of lying to the media when he stated that he was ‘immunised’ against Covid. When it transpired that he had sought out alternatives other than the vaccine, he had to clarify his comments publicly.
At a time when the world has been impacted by the pandemic, Luke’s comments did not go down well. During the show, Luke had said: “Rest assured, we’re following all the health protocols to keep everyone safe.
“It is so great to be here with all my fellow artists — tested and together. Or immunised? Who is it? Just playing.”
Given the severity of the pandemic, Carrie was not best pleased. When the camera focused on her, she refused to smile, indicating that it was not a funny matter. This is understandable for several reasons.
First of all, prior to this joke being made, Carrie’s husband Mike Fisher had defended Aaron publicly. After all, they knew each other.
Secondly, by laughing at the joke, it may have undermined her husband’s prior support for Aaron. And in light of Mike’s following comments, it is easy to see why Carrie reacted that way.
In a previous post on social media, Mike said: “It’s time to fight for our medical freedom…People losing their jobs over a medical choice is un-American and unacceptable.
“We need to stand up now before it’s too late!! #medicalfreedom #istandwithaaronrodgers.” To make matters even more intriguing, Carrie went on to like that post which suggested that she clearly agrees with the views.
Nevertheless, people on social media did choose to see the funny side of it. One user on Twitter remarked: “My favourite part of the show will be Luke Bryan talking about being immunised and then panning to Carrie Underwood.”
Carrie’s silence to the joke did not hide the fact that she disapproved of it, but whether she would vocally support Aaron is anyone’s guess. And with, it is probably wise that Luke avoids making jokes about a sensitive issue such as Covid vaccines.
