Recently Cody Rhodes would make one of the smartest moves of his career as a professional wrestler. No, it wasn’t getting rid of his awful neck tattoo – but rather getting away from Twitter. While a powerful tool for up and coming performers in the wrestling industry, all it brought for Rhodes was an open channel for fans to spout hate from. So, he deactivated his Twitter account, but has now found a new purpose for the account and it’s one million followers.
Cody Rhodes Repurposes His Twitter Account
Taking to Instagram to share his plans, Rhodes would state the following – and share the future of his account. The statement from the Instagram story would state the following.
“I know some folks are upset that I deactivated my Twitter – but I don’t intend to let a million plus followers just go away. So I’m really happy to give away my followers to and transition/reactivate the handle to the AEW Community Outreach Team! As seen already, it’s a wonderful group who aims to do something in every market – whether the cameras are on or off, no matter how big or small. Just good people doing good things for each other.”
The AEW Community Outreach Team Supports Some Great Causes – But Lacks Spotlight
This is a great move from Rhodes, and one that should help to put some major spotlight on the doings of the community outreach team – who have been a missable piece of the AEW family to this point. It’s not shocking that some fans have never heard of them until now.
Some events the team has done and will do include a donation drive for the Teacher Reuse Exchange, meet and greet events benefitting groups such as Connections for Abused Women and their Children (CAWC), Diaper Drives, Charity Bowling, and so much more.. Getting more spotlight on these events can only help them grow, and will certainly bring in great press for AEW.
