Ed Sheeran may have a way of serenading women with his music, but not much is known about the musician who thought that he was gay during this childhood.

Ed, for his part, came to the realisation that he felt out of place during his childhood. While it could have been due to the fact that his talent was often not recognised amongst his peers, on reflection, it was much more than that.
He admitted that he was a sensitive person during his formative years. So much so that he questioned his sexuality. During an interview on the ‘Man Man Man Podcast’, he said: “I’m not a hugely masculine person.
When I was a kid, I thought I was gay for a bit. I love musical theatre. I love pop music. I love Britney Spears.” But that does not mean that Ed is not tapping into his masculine side.
In fact, he spoke on how he re-evaluated himself when he met his wife, Cherry Seaborn. Given that she works in a cut-throat environment, coupled with the fact that she is known for championing women’s values, those qualities rubbed off on Ed.
He added: “She works a very high-level job where she’s the top of her field. As soon as we started dating, my life kind of shifted to that… It’s very much like women empowerment.”
Despite Cherry’s influence, fatherhood also played a part in developing Ed’s personality. In 2020, he welcomed his daughter, Lira, which has only gone on to increase his feminine side.
Knowing that he is such a high-profile public figure, Ed had to make sure that he put his daughter first. That is why he is more mindful of his conduct.
After all, he wants to avoid ending up like other stars who have neglected their children due to controversies in the media. He continued: “Before Lyra was born, it [feminine side] was kind of [present].
“But now Lyra is born it’s even more [prevalent].” Ed has certainly defined the way that men have been viewed through his music. And that should be recognised at the very least.
