Former basketball player Vince Carter has spoken on his experiences in playing for the Phoenix Suns under the ownership of Robert Sarver.

Robert, for his part, has been accused of inappropriate behaviour towards NBA players. This has included claims that he directed the N-word towards Draymond Green.
Further allegations include sexist behaviour, as well as a toxic working environment. While Robert has maintained that he is innocent, Vince’s revelations run counter to that.
He admitted how Robert had informed his players to inflict what could only be interpreted as harm on Vince. It is one thing being competitive by nature, but an entirely different thing if someone is targeted for harm.
And after leaving the Phoenix Suns for the Mavericks, when he came back to face Robert’s team, that is when he realised Robert’s harmful intentions.
In an interview, he said: “I was told from two teammates that are reliable and (I) trust in what they say…He wanted them to take me out.
“Put me on the ground. ‘Don’t let him have fun in our building.’ Because he felt like I was trying to show him and the team up.”
Vince did end up making a significant contribution in that match, given that he had helped the Mavericks to a 23-point win over their rivals. But rather than being happy for Vince, Robert was clearly seething.
The only thing that Vince wanted to showcase was that he was good enough. And yet, it seems that Robert interpreted this as him rubbing salt into the wounds upon his return.
He added: “Every time I scored the ball, that I was looking at them. Of course, when you go back to your old team, you want to play well.
“And I guess he felt that I was trying to show him up or whatever the case may be.” Robert is currently facing an investigation from the NBA in order to determine whether these accusations are true.
