When it comes to names who were released from WWE, Oney Lorcan is one that could fly under the radar for many fans. The former NXT Tag Team Champion had some notable moments in his run beyond that reign, battling the Undisputed Era in WarGames and having an excellent set of matches with Timothy Thatcher in NXT. He will look back fondly on his time in WWE, as he revealed in a video released shortly after the news broke.
Oney Lorcan Is Very Excited For The Future
With a simple title in “I’ve been released from my WWE contract.” uploaded to his Biff Busick (his indy ring name) YouTube channel, he’d recount his time in the promotion, saying the following.
“Today I have officially been released from my WWE contract. I had a great six years with WWE. I’m going to look back on that time very fondly. I met some great people and had some great experiences – it was definitely a cool chapter in life. Going forward though, I’m very excited for the future. I have a 90 day non-compete clause in my WWE contract, so that brings me to about the first week in February where I’ll be able to work anywhere in the world. So I’m very excited for the future. I just want to say thank you to all the WWE fans for sticking with me, I hope going forward you will continue to follow me and stick with me. I’m very excited for the future – Biff rules.”

Not Burning Any Bridges, And Pushing Forward With A Bigger Fanbase, AJPW Run Hinted?
This was a smart way for Lorcan to start this next chapter of his career, as much like Bryan Danielson – he didn’t take the approach of bashing WWE. He thanked them for the time he spent there, the larger exposure and new fans it gained him – while just showing that he’s going to go right back to doing what he does best in a mer 90 days.
Lorcan has not really been used on WWE TV lately, with his last major televised match being a loss to Xyon Quinn in NXT. He was a member of the old guard, and failed to find much of a spot in the new NXT 2.0 era. If you’re not going to use a man in the prime of his career, it’s best for both parties to cut things off, and let him make a name for himself elsewhere. The only hint in the video as to his future is a copy of Virtual Pro-Wrestling 2, an N64 game which focused on the AJPW roster – perhaps showing that could be a possible location. While not as big as NJPW – AJPW has a stacked roster, and are gaining more and more steam in recent years.
Anyone who has watched Lorcan wrestle knows that he always gives 100%, and it will be interesting to see where he pops up first. Where do you want to see Oney Lorcan return to his roots as Biff Busick? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
