Everson Griffen, who is best known for being the star of the Minnesota Vikings, has hit the headlines after police and mental health services visited his home in response to concerns over his well-being.
Police Raid Everson Griffen’s Home After The Minnesota Vikings Player Posted An Instagram Video Claiming Someone Was Trying To Kill Him
Everson, for his part, raised the alarm bells following an Instagram video in which he posted some footage of himself holding a handgun. Thereafter, he had apparently called the police services claiming that somebody was trying to kill him.
According to reports, the police were alerted to his home after they received a telephone call that stated someone ‘was inside.’ And after having arrived on the scene, the authorities were involved in a deadlock with Everson as to what to do next.
Clearly, he was in distress, but they managed to resolve things peacefully. And luckily for everybody involved, there was no damage done.
In an official police statement, the authorities said: “Griffen also told the 911 dispatcher that he fired a weapon, but nobody was injured.
“Law enforcement and psychologists from the Minnesota Vikings have been in ongoing communication with Griffen, who has refused to come out of his residence.”
Unfortunately, however, the so-called intruder was never found, which suggests that perhaps the American football player is still undergoing physiological stress.
As such, steps are being undertaken to ensure Everson’s family are also looked after, given the wider impact of the incident.
Regardless of whether the police wrap up the investigation, one thing for sure is that Everson should take some time off from the sport to ensure that he gets his thoughts together.
The statement added: “Our only concern at this time is the safety and well-being of Everson and his family. We will have further comment at the appropriate time.”
The response on social media was one of support from both the fans and players alike. Dalvin Cook, who happens to be a teammate of Everson, came out to express his support at what must clearly be a difficult time.
In a post to his fans on Twitter, he remarked: “That’s my brother. I just want him to be okay.” Let us hope that Everson is able to overcome this.
