Republican Politician Paul Gosar Causes Outrage After Editing A Video To Show Him Killing Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez And Attacking President Joe Biden
The video, which can be seen here, includes footage of some Japanese anime from the popular series ‘Attack on Titan.’ During one of the scenes, one of the show’s characters had been replaced by Paul, who is shown wielding a sword in the direction of United States President Joe Biden. It has since been taken down.
The caption to the video simply included the following words: “Any anime fans out there?” This was not the only thing that had gotten people’s attention.
According to reports, some of the Japanese text included things along the lines of “attack of immigrants,” as well as other words such as “drugs, crime, poverty, money, gangs, violence” and “trafficking,” as the footage went over images of migrants.
The video ends with former United States President Donald Trump making an appearance. The video received a decisive response on social media. Supporters of Paul praised the politician over what they believed to be an act of bravery.
They felt that the video was highlighting attention towards President Biden’s failure to deal with the US-Mexico border crisis. As such, it was hinted that Donald Trump would be an answer to that.
However, others criticised the video over its inflammatory nature. Democrat politician Eric Swalwell demanded that Paul be suspended from Twitter after having shared this video.
Although Twitter did recognise that it may have caused some harm to its users, they did not remove the tweet. They felt that it was permissible in light of the public interest.
The platform had this to say: “This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about hateful conduct. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.”
It is not clear yet whether there will be any further repercussions against Paul over his conduct. Having said that, though, it is obvious that he does not approve of Alexandria and President Biden.
