Last week at Halloween Havoc, Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams were tested mentally by the duo of Johnny Gargano & Dexter Lumis. They braved a haunted house to reclaim ‘Melos NXT North American Championship, and now they will get a chance for revenge in the ring. It’s Lumis & Gargano vs. Williams & Hayes – and Gargano will be looking to show Carmelo that the three time NXT North American champion is more than ready for reign #4.
Before this, Hayes tried to step up to Tommaso Ciampa, and was worried… only for Ciampa to bark back and punch Williams out. But when Gargano came out, Ciampa clutched the belt close – knowing that is a real threat, one he knows all too well. They built this house, and could tear it down. But that’s a story for another night, the time for talk is over, it’s time for the main event.
The A-Champion Of NXT Meets Johnny Wrestling
Lumis would bring the CWC’s temperature down with his cold stare, and Hayes & Williams still don’t know what to make of him. He’d start with Trick Williams, who is in his second match ever – showing some fancy footwork… before tagging out. Hayes tagged him right back in, and Lumis would get stomped before getting the Thesz Press and some blows, before maintaining wrist control and tagging in Gargano.
Gargano hit an axe handle, then tagged back in Lumis who got a throat thrust. Williams dove for a tag to Hayes, who threw a pump kick. He’d pull Hayes to the corner and tag Gargano, and Hayes would finally meet Johnny Wrestling. They would go hold for hold, and reached a stalemate until Hayes took the slingshot spear. Lumis & Gargano hit tandem hip tosses and dropkicks, sending Hayes & Williams to the outside as a commercial break broke up the action.
Carmelo Hayes Sneaks A Win Over Dexter Lumis
Back from the break, action made its way back into the ring. Gargano was close to a tag after taking down Williams, but Hayes was one step ahead as he pulled Lumis off the apron. A double team assault would keep Gargano far away from a tag, and Williams would use his power to try and get Gargano down. However, he’d be tripped up and Lumis got the tag alongside Hayes.
Lumis would get this train back on track, and Gargano would work alongside him to hit a superkick party. Things would boil down to Hayes & Gargano, which the crowd wanted to see in a one on one capacity given the “This is Awesome” chants. Trading blows, Gargano would get the edge before a pump kick sent him off the ropes, where he came back with a lariat.
Lumis would tag in and apply the Silence, but Williams would hit him with a shoe behind the back of the referee, allowing Hayes to bounce back with a diving kick for the win. Will Hayes be able to silence Gargano next? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
