After months of being an internet favorite, HOOK will finally step into the ring. The son of Taz, and having been trained by Cody Rhodes & QT Marshall – and having training matches watched and critiqued by the likes of Arn Anderson & Jake Roberts, HOOK has high expectations from fans.
Tonight, he gets to prove to everyone that he’s the real deal, as he takes on Fuego Del Sol. Coming to the ring to Action Bronson track ‘The Chairman’s Intent’, it was clear he’s not to be taken lightly in his debut match.
HOOK HAS BEEN SENT
Hook would start off nice with a hammerlock takedown. Fuego would get back to his feet and was taken down with another impressive takedown into a North-South choke. He’d take the four count on the ropes, but took his eyes off Fuego and got rolled up for two. Chants of “Hook is gonna kill you” would come as he set up an effortless gutwrench suplex, that HOOK calls El Camino.
Fuego would get some offense with a dropkick and two spears in the corner. HOOK blocked the Tornado DDT and nailed a huge lariat. A TazPlex was followed by some crossface blows – and the Tazmission would follow for the win. HOOK didn’t take much offense here, with his aggressive style leaving few openings. Team Taz had an ace up their sleeve with HOOK.
Adam Cole Will Never Underestimate Wheeler Yuta Again
The Best Friends got a big boost on Wednesday, when Trent made his return following a hard fought tag team match which saw Chuck Taylor & Rocky Romero lose to the Young Bucks. Tonight, they have a chance to get back to winning as Wheeler Yuta goes to the ring to face Adam Cole. This is another huge match for Yuta, and could be his biggest win yet in AEW.
Cole brought Young Bucks & Bobby Fish to the ring, while Yuta had all of Best Friends. Yuta would come out fast, only to take some fast forearm blows and a running back elbow. Cole would get caught in a cradle pin for a two cout, before managing a superkick on Yuta. Some mocking kicks from Cole to Yuta would lead to another roll up, before a tight cradle pin for two.
Cole shot back with a pump kick, before the Ushigoroshi. Yuta rolled outside and got some aid as Orange Cassidy stared daggers at Cole. He’d avoid Panama Sunrise, and get a big crossbody off the top rope. A diving elbow strike would follow this, before getting a bridging German Suplex.
Again, Yuta went to the top rope – but Cole stopped him this time. However, Cole would still take the modified Olympic Slam, before looking for the Frog Splash. He’d take the knees instead, before The BOOM landed for the win.
Adam Cole entered the trap style of Wheeler Yuta, but was able to rise above with his hard signature blows. Match Rating: 3.25/5 (*** 1/4)
After the match, Best Friends would be suckered into a trap as The Elite would beat them down. When will these factions collide? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
