Rapper Snoop Dogg has spoken out following the death of fellow rapper Drakeo the Ruler, born Darrell Wayne Caldwell.
Snoop Dogg Speaks Out Following Rapper ‘Drakeo the Ruler’s’ Stabbing And Death-‘IM PRAYING FOR PEACE IN HIP HOP’
According to reports, Drakeo the Ruler (Darrell Wayne Caldwell) had been stabbed dead backstage amid the ‘Once Upon a Time’ concert in Los Angeles. Although Drakeo the Ruler was taken immediately to hospital, it was not enough to save him as he died after a stab into the neck.
The incident caused a lot of shock for Snoop, given that he had been expected to perform at the festival. Other big name musicians included Ice Cube, and 50 Cent. But once it was clear what had happened, Snoop decided to cancel his gig.
In an official statement given by Live Nation, which happens to be an entertainment company, a representative said: “There was an altercation in the roadway backstage.
“Out of respect for those involved and in coordination with local authorities, artists and organisers decided not to move forward with remaining sets so the festival was ended an hour early.”
Given that Snoop was no longer performing, he took his time out to make sure that he gave an adequate explanation over what he was feeling. After all, this is the latest incident of one of many that has seen rappers being killed way before their time.
Take for example Young Dolph. The rapper had been shot dead outside a bakery only just last month. And this is sadly a trend that needs to stop amongst hip-hop artists.
In a post to his fans on Twitter, Snoop revealed: “I’m saddened by the events that took place last night…My prayers go out to everyone affected by the tragedy.
“Please take care, love one another and stay safe y’all. IM PRAYING FOR PEACE IN HIP HOP.” The response on social media was one of anger.
Fans felt that more should be done in order to protect people at concerts, especially given what happened at Astroworld.
One person on Twitter wrote: “All hip hop and rap concerts should be banned and or cancelled! Rappers don’t are about protecting fans.” Once again, it is a question of too little too late when it comes to preventing such unfortunate events.
