Dexter Lumis has been hyper fixated on Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams in recent months, after they worked together to break his hand. When he finally got his hands on Hayes one on one, Williams made the save forcing a DQ – and now he needs to take on the Tortured Artist of NXT. Williams has never worked a televised TV match before now, so this is the true test of what he can do.
Roderick Strong Is Ready To Stop Carmelo Hayes, Trick Williams Gets Silenced
Williams was talking trash before the bell, while Lumis just stared at him. Lumis didn’t flinch when Williams tried to throw a punch, before catching the pump kick and being shoved into the corner. Williams fled to the outside and Lumis walked after, before getting a Thesz Press and running axe handle in the middle of the ring.
Diamond Mine were watching on to mock Carmelo Hayes, building to a potential title unification match between Hayes & Roderick Strong. Williams was able to get a dropkick on Lumis before throwing him to the outside. Roderick Strong was no longer up top with Ivy Nile & Malcolm Bivens, instead at ringside beating down Hayes!
Back to the match, Williams stomped Lumis before hitting a scoop slam, getting a one count. Another scoop slam led to another kickout, before Williams applied a chinlock. Lumis was able to fight free, and nailed some uppercuts before a lariat into a bulldog. The backdrop was followed by a big leg drop, before some big punches in the corner. Finally, Silence was applied and Williams would go to sleep.
Here Comes AJ Styles!
After the match, Grayson Waller hit Lumis from being with a steel chair – before someone pulled up at the arena. AJ Styles heard Waller talking trash on social media, and he’s here in NXT to show him that was a mistake. Styles has shown up on NXT once before, when he and some Good Brothers took the fight to NXT ahead of Survivor Series 2019.
Waller would be in the ring ranting about the Hall of Fame, where ‘legends’ thank everyone including the pathetic fans of WWE. When he hits the Hall of Fame he’d just say ‘You’re Welcome’, and that day will come because he’s already a superstar. The music of AJ Styles would hit, and the crowd went wild.
Waller took credit for getting AJ here, before being told to shut the hell up. AJ would claim he’s sharing the ring with the biggest jackass in WWE, but Waller is just loving the attention. He’d ask why AJ is here, is it to be the veteran who helps the newcomers? Or was it because he needs a new tag partner to make him relevant again.
AJ has seen the matches of Waller, and notices he takes a lot from his career. He sees potential in Waller, but a future superstar? Maybe not. Breakker, D’Angelo & Hayes are all superstars, but the jury is still out on Waller. Waller would rather look good and lose, than look bad and win.
AJ would get threatened, but would stand right up to the rookie. Waller had a good three weeks, while AJ has had two good decades. Waller would take his shirt off, before running away. He’ll let Omos get him first, and he’s got next.
