Tonight is the first time Jon Moxley has wrestled in months – but after his return promo on Dynamite made something clear. You can’t do more damage to him than his personal demons did, and he kicked their asses. Ethan Page has a chance to get a big win here tonight – as a win over Jon Moxley is something worth celebrating. His singles record in AEW is 41-4-1, with more singles wins than any other man in AEW.
Jon Moxley Is In The Best Shape Of His Career
Moxley hit the ring like a wildman, and was in perhaps the best shape of his entire career. This is a new Jon Moxley, and Ethan Page gets to taste this first hand. His 22-6 record is nothing to sneeze at, but he’s no Moxley. They’d lock up tight to start this match, and Page was able to shove Moxley off.
Moxley is giving up some power and size now to someone like Page, and ring rust is a factor. However, he’d send some chops into the chest of Page, before a running back elbow dropped Page to the mat. Some biting in the corner would show that Moxley is still insane, but a kick to the head and shoulder tackle would send Moxley out to the floor.
Page would maul Moxley on the outside, and deliver some punches on the timekeepers table – with Moxley falling through it. Moxley would fire back, and drive Page into the barricade. Moxley was finding his rhythm, but took a second too long playing the crowd – and taking a backbreaker for it.
Ethan Page Goes To Sleep
Back to the outside, Moxley was driven right into the steel ring post. Page would follow up with a hammerlock, before driving Moxley arm first into the post again. He’d be tossed into the crowd, before Page took this fight back to the ring. Ego’s Edge was set, but Moxley would wiggle his way free before rolling Page up for a two count.
The drop-step would be followed by two excellent German Suplexes but the third would be countered at first – but a rebound off the ropes say Moxley nail it. King Kong Lariat was blocked, before Page would trade blows with Moxley and take some heavy forearm blows before the knee to the gut.
A big boot from Page would stun Moxley, before the King Long Lariat landed. Paradigm Shift was blocked, and Page nailed a brainbuster for a two count. Single Leg Crab wouldn’t get the submission, and Moxley sent Page outside for the Elbow Suicida. Back in the ring, Moxley would take too long going up to the top rope, and would take a super powerslam. Page would have his pinfall countered, and after some strikes – the Bulldog Choke put Page to sleep.
After the match, on his way to the back – Bryan Danielson would confront Moxley, and seemingly wants the match he prepared for at Full Gear 2021.
